Hi Sofie,

Alles gut. Just relax Ur mind and make it up. We shall keep in touch.
Ciao.
Hi Carebear2,
I think the more I speak to people about their experiences of going under, the better I feel about it. A lot of people are scared and then come out of it fine. I think we shouldn't over think it and try to keep ourselves busy. My pains are coming back now a bit so for me it is necessary to do this Op.
I think the longer you leave it the more it will grow and your right they might ask you to do a Hysterectomy then (which is somethig to avoid). We will be fine try not to worry hun
Hello, I have had same size fibroids as you, 7cm and had a keyhole myomectomy. I feel very good now do don't listen to the doctor about no improvement
Hi guys,
Just give you an update on me, I'm day 3 post op. I went for the open myomectomy, the operation was successful the consultant was really good and didn't need to go into my womb to remove my fibroid. I feel pain when I get up and out of bed etc but apart from that it's bearable pain. Just a long slow recovery now.
Hi Sofie, good to know that you are good and okay. My prayers are with you and other women who would be facing same. Thank God the operation was successful and I wish you safe and speedy recovery.
Thanks Jennifer, it's so numb around scar and my belly is swollen, as I haven't been for a no 2 yet. I'm scared as that will hurt. We'll see how it goes.
Hi Sofie,
Glad it went well for you and you are now on the recovery side of the fence! Key thing to remember is every day is now a little better than the day before and you'll be shocked at the difference you feel each week if you reflect back. The smallest things feel like big achievements... like the first no. 2 (good luck, not as bad as you expect)!
I've just finished week 6 and almost feel normal now. Still feel a little discomfort and am more tired than usual, but have had several key milestones in the last week. 1st glass of wine, first bath, 1st drive, 1st 30 min walk etc. Slept without my big U pillow last night, which had become something of a security blanket!
Be patient and kind to yourself in the next few weeks and listen to your body. Rest and sleep when tired as that's when the healing happens.
Also, I've just been told about scar management which was brand new to me. Didn't realise that if you don't massage and release the stuck bits it can lead to back and pelvic pain. Worth reading up on so you are prepared for week 5 / 6 onwards. I saw a physio who specialises in women's recovery this week and after she massaged the scar and my abdomen it relieved a lot of my residual pain much to my surprise.
Keep us posted on how you get on. X
Will hurt a bit but keep drinking fluids, I have had a keyhole one and it was sore when I was laughing or coughing, is normal as the muscles around the scar are weak, but after a couple of days you will be fine.
Thanks, it feels like ages away doing all of that, I am also aiming for all of that at week 6. I do feel better each day, but feel bloated due to not passing no 2, which causes me great discomfort.
I'll keep you updated. I'm glad your recovery is going well.
Hi Laura,
Thanks for the list. Really helpful to see this. I have my surgery in a few weeks. So I will use the list to prepare.
Thanks,
Samy
Your welcome Samy, I hope it's useful. I found keeping my mind occupied was the best way to stay calm in the run up.
Good luck with your op and recovery, I hope everything goes well! X
Omg I felt the same way! I was so afraid of not being able to wake myself up. I had a myomectomy a month and everything is great now. They removed 9 fibroids and have given me the ability to conceive. I’m 34 as well. You’ll be ok they literally counted to 3 and I was knocked out cold. Woke up a few hours later confused in my hospital room.
Hey everyone,
What size were your fibroids? I’m wondering if they choose to operate due to size, symptoms or both.
I am awaiting my ultrasound results. All the tech said was fibroids and one was larger than others. I do not want children, so I am not anti surgery. I just want them gone.
We don’t have Esmya in the US yet but it seems to me that people end up having surgery after Esmya.
Hi
Mine were 19cm and 11cm, so fairly large. They tend to operate due to symptoms and the patients wishes. So, watch and wait was still an option for me as my symptoms weren't too severe, along with UFE, hysterectomy and myomectomy. My symptoms were pressure related - bloating, constipation, back and pelvic pain.
In reality I just wanted them out and am so glad I did as I feel so much better as a result. I hadn't realised how many problems they were causing that I was just putting up with until after the operation.
I had to try Esmya pre-op in an attempt to shrink them due to the size of them, however it didn't make any difference. Just meant I had a vertical incision instead of bikini line, which I was fine with as only difference is aesthetic.
Hi Sophie, we messaged about 3 months ago. I am pleased to read your operation has gone well I'm still waiting for my next gynie appointment, as had another incidental finding which pushed this on the back burner. Hope you are feeling back to normal now, just wanted to send you my good wishes & prayers & see how you were doing.
Best Regards
Hx
Hi Heather,
I'm sorry to hear about your recent discovery, I hope it's not as bad as you think. I'm feeling much better and feel like I have got my life back. It's been about 3 months now since my op and I have just returned to gym, trying to burn off that fat I put on whilst watching judge rinder at home.
Thanks for thinking about me Hun, I hope it's goes well for you, keep me updated and take care Xx
Thanks Sophie, Nice to hear from you & that you are doing well. I was concerned & suffering enough with fibroids but this now is a whole different ball game. I'm glad you are well & back on track, that's a great success story. x
