awful drug be careful

Been on Amlodopine for about six months. Suddenly started feeling very low and depressed. Also stated hallucinating a little and feeling very anxious. Stopped taking it and feel much better. Be careful because you begin to feel like you are are going a little crazy. This drug i found out has been banned in Holland for such reasons.

If you feel that a symptom is due to a side effect of a medicine that you have taken then you may wish to report it to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) via their yellow card scheme - http://www.mhra.gov.uk/Safetyinformation/Reportingsafetyproblems/Medicines/index.htm

crazy !--yes i thought i was going like it taking this drug has reduced me to this--------pins and needled so bad i couldnt sleep or sit for long without moving----quality of life terrible when taking it no wonder they banned ti in holland ! my gp doesnt care

I have had 2 periods of hallucinations and crazyness with this drug. The second time I was prescribed the drug by mistake when normal GP was on holiday (different manufacturer). How long after stopping is it before drug is out of system and crazyness wears off

my mother[76 years old] has been taking amlodipine and antenolol for the last month for the treatment of high blood pressure she is suffering with the following side affects:

depression

anxious

bleeding gums

difficulty sleeping

loss of appetite

nightmares

confusion

does anyone know of any alternative medication with less side affects

:x

I found the problem I experienced similar to your mother was associated with the many calcium-based BP medication and after discussing with my normal GP, I changed to a potassium-based BP medication Losartan 100Mg and recently added Doxazosin 1Mg to reduce BP to new Government guidelines. I am 69 years old and I am still trying to find out how long these drugs you refer stay in the system, after taking those drugs 6 months ago for a 2nd time unknowingly prescribed whilst in hospital?

I was on Felodopine which had constantly made me feel terrible in one way or another, i received a letter from my doctor to say that he is taking me off this medication and putting me on Amlodipine,

the side affects that i now have are far more severe than the previous medication, i have now ceased taking this medication, can anyone tell me how long it will be before it is out of my system.

Many thanks.

I've been on this over a year and just read through its horrifying side effects.

I now feel I wish GPs would take the time to read the side effects prior to prescribing- or at least hand you a leaflet listing them....

Now I feel I'm getting into the malicious medicine cycle of adding another drug to counter another, and another to counter the previous one and so on....

I was prescribed this drug Amlodipine 5mg back in 2004 along with others for high BP which have built up over the years.

I have been suffering with severe bouts of trembling, full body tingling hands and feet too, hot spells, headaches, nightmares and sleepless night , blurry eye sight which all have worsened over the years.  I have seen doctors and specialists who have found nothing wrong. I get the feeling they do not care. Some say I'm doing it to myself. I feel these drug/s have ruined my life. I feel so bad most of the time that I might die.

I must be crazy as I never thought it could be Amlodipine. My BP is still not controlled.

I stopped yesterday and now on Felodipine.

Amlodipine is NOT banned in Holland. I live in Holland and am on Amlodipine. Minimal side effects and my blood pressure is much improved.
