Hi everyone,
Been on this FS ride for about 9 months to a year. (I'm a Diabetic if that even mattters, seems FS is just as nasty for Diabetics or non-Diabetics.)
This last week, been having awful pain shooting down into both elbows. Anyone else experience anything like this? It's making me nausious it's so intense.
FS is full of surprises. Yay us! LOL
Yes I used to get pain in my elbow, I had surgery and just aches which is ok cause it's not a horrid ache it doesn't ache all the time, I have good movement to the front to the side it's a bit stiff but can get it their, to the rear the pain in my bicep and and elbow my elbow just won't bend but.its painful so now I wonder if I have an elbow issue I don't know
Not so much an elbow issue here. But I get shooting pains from my shoulder down the side of my bicep (like the outer side of my arm) to my elbow. It's random, but it comes numerous times per day for no real reason. Finally got a gp appointment for Friday and I am hoping to find some pain meds that will help since I can't take codiene or NSAIDs. And hopefully she start the referral to an ortho specialist. It's been 15 months of left side FS and month 2 now of right side FS! Trying to remain positive. Wish I was more help Jen
Absolutely. FS pain shoots down the arm, to the elbow, even down to the wrist. For me it always hits the exact same spots down the arm. But both elbows? You have it in both shoulders simultaneously? I've not dealt with that. There are several different ways of addressing this referred pain down the arm, but I'm sure you've heard it all.I just wanted to chime in on that elbow pain, and that it is not unusual.
Jen, if into both elbows then think something central. can you reproduce the pain from neck movements?
Hi Frozen,
Well, if I look down, I feel it just a little. Otherwise, the arm/ elbow pain comes on out of nowhere. Maybe it's related, but who knows, on my MRI they discovered I have no curve in my neck at all. Doc said was because I was in extreme pain with the FS this past 9-12 months, but no treatment.
Thanks for any opinion that you may have in advance. You're comments are always appreciated.
Hope you are feeling all right today.
Yes I've had that also. Also type 1 and had FZ since sept 2015. Ortho told me that's unrelated but I'm thinking he's wrong. I started taking MSM 1000mg (herbal supplement found at CVS) since last week and have been almost pain free since. Totally recommend it. My sugars were horrible due to the pain and stress and lack of sleep. I'm a different person since then. Trying to ride this out. My right arm is pretty bad and I can't even ponytail my hair, and need help getting dressed and zipped up. The MSM has not fixed the problem but has made every day and night bearable. Hoping to start exercising the arm at some point in future. Heard you have to be in stage 2 for that. Good luck.
Hi Jenn! I will see another ortho dr for my elbow that I can't get my arm to straighten out. Hope this dr will find the problem.
Hi Debbie!
I'm glad to hear that. The other Ortho sounded a bit um, uncaring to me. I'm afraid this is something we have to just wait out. I don't know about you, but sometimes loosing patience with all this. Sure I'm not alone! Lol
Are you getting really bad fatigue lately? I know we are in a similar timeline with our awesome FS.
Yes I get tired all the time. 💤
Hello Jen,
I have had elbow pain too. It also goes down to my hand too.
I know what you are going through.
I do hope it gets better for you.
Hi Maddie
How many tablets of MSM are you taking per day?
Grace
Roughly one a day although often it starts wearing off before the 24 hours.
My pain now seems to be mostly in my upper arm, bicep area, outer side. Throbbing and aching. Still frozen on left side, but my ROM hasn't gotten any worse, but not better either. I'm able to function fairly well, but will be so happy when this is over. Sometimes I wonder if it's worth doing my PT exercises. I end up in so much pain for days following, with pain in my neck and left side of my face. I have no idea why this happened to me. Not diabetic or in any other risk groups, other than 55 and recently post menopausal.
I'm doing one 1000mg capsule at night and one in the morning. I went 3 days without it and my shoulder felt like it was regressing, so I'm back on it. I too, also notice the wear off, so that's why I do the two capsules daily.
Thanks everyone
I'm taking MSM 1500MG one a day and I believe it's taken the edge off the pain but it's still aggravating.
Perhaps I'll increase it to 2 tablets.
Thanks again ☺
So glad we have this place to read about things that work for this terrible condition! I started prescription Celebrex a week ago and honestly feel worse than on the MSM alone. Started adding MSM back into my day. I'm supposed to start aggressive PT 7/18 and not looking forward to it. I'm definitely still losing ROM and worried that I soon won't be able to pull up my pants😳 Taking insulin has also been a pain and I'm so sick of continually asking for help with my hair on these hot days. We'll see if I can handle it or if I will pass out!
This site is definitely very helpful and somewhat comforting.
Hang in there maddie things will get better, unfortunately this region of our bodies take longer to heal.
Hi Maddie,
Be careful. My Ortho who has treated many Diabtics said to never do PT during the painful stage. It could make it worse. This is a Diabetic complication for us Diabetics, so a bit different than regular FS. Theses doctors admittedly don't know much about the condition. Keep that in mind. I made mine worse with aggressive PT, just saying.
Celebrex made me feel awful. I stopped taking it. They out me in Meloxicam (sp?). Sort of helps inflammation, but so does ice. 😏
Hi Jen! Can we chat via text? I now started have my right shoulder pain and nerve radiate down to my hand which get tingling. Ugh! I am waiting for my ortho doctor tell me what to do.
Debbie 😃
