I have been in such terrible pain today under my right ribs and shoulder blade. I have been awfully bloated all day. It is two weeks tomorrow till my pre op assessment but no date for surgery. Hoping to be put on cancellation list. Going on holiday tomorrow so really hoping this pain will clear. It really is miserable.
Hey Lynne,
Hope the pain goes away soon for you! My doc has given me 600mg ibuprofen tablets to take 3 times a day and I also take 6-8 tramadol tablets too. On them for pain relief after recent achilles surgery. I take lansoprazole tablet first thing so protect my stomach too. My best friend who also has gallstones and awaiting ercp first was given buscopan cramps tablets at hospital and says they work an absolute miracle! Have to buy them at pharmacy though as they're different to buscopan ibs tablets. Maybe worthwhile going to pharmacy in morning for a few packets of them just incase?
Just wondering who you sorted travel insurance through? I've got annual insurance but phoned them today and I'll not be covered for anything related to the gallstones if it flared up while I was away 😪: no last min hol for me now!
Really hope you're feeling better soon!!
I do have Buscopan from my GP, but I don't really feel any better on them.
I am only travelling within the country to the Lake District, so haven't taken Travel Insurance.
Still have some pain this morning, so will have to dose up on whatever I can! I have cocodamol, which does help with the pain, but it makes me feel so spaced out and woozy, so I don't like to take it.
Anything with codeine in does that to me too. It also constipates and anything that messes up the digestive system is not needed when you have gallbladder issues. Buscopan didn't help me either. I took Paracetamol which barely touched the pain and solpadeine when it was bad. I'm very wary of tramadol as I had this IV in hospital and saw 'butterflies'.
At least you're on holiday somewhere where you can get medical attention. I'd avoid anything fatty, large meals and alcohol. I'm sure you already are doing this but it's easy to be tempted on holiday.
Just use the time to try and relax and build your strength up for surgery. Maybe your surgery will be brought forward once you have the pre op and they see how bad you are?
