B12 Shots

Hello,

I went to the doctor concerned about the circulation in my legs, my toes turn purple, and the tops of my legs would have sharp pains every once in awhile.

The doctor said my B12 level was 235, and started me on shots. I have to take a shot every day for a week, then one shot a week for three weeks.

Today was my 5th shot for the first week.

My legs cramp and ache all the time now, especially if I lay down.

Has anyone else had this happen after taking B12 shots?

Thank you for reading smile

hi Charline. sorry to hear about the discomfort caused by ur b12 deficiency/treatment. however, what u describe post b12 injection is quite common. it can be explained by the nerve ending being stimulated into action by the b12. in a way it's a positive sign i.e. the b12 is reaching to where the compromise is. the tingling/cramps etc gets easier & short lived as healing occurs. i take it that u are not bed bound presently? hope u begin to feel the positive effects of the injections soon.

Caitlin

Hello Caitlin,

Thank you for your response.

No, I am not bed bound. I try not to lay down until I go to bed, since that is when my legs bother me the most.

I am happy to hear this means the B12 is working. 😃

Thank you again for your response 😃

Sadly I can't help, I am on B12 but I haven't had that side effect. B12 is to support the nervous system so I would suggest you phone your care provider as you sound as if your from across the pond❤️

Thank you for your response 😃

Hi again Charline. pleased to hear that ur not bed bound. if u had cramps whilst being bed bound, the Doc would need to check your platelet levels. but that's not the case for you, so no worries there. GP's, generally speaking, tend to give the b12 'loading dose' of injections over a 2 week period, rather than one week, this can have the effect of being less of a 'shock' to the depleted system than giving them daily.

hope u begin to feel the good effects shortly

Caitlin.

Thank you for your response 😃
