Baby Shark

If I were to say to you, ' please don't think about the baby shark song ' , you would (if you have heard it) immediately be singing along in seconds. This is how our brain works, it loves to chew on a perceived problem or event, like a dog with a bone. I like many others am faced with the dilemma of Medication or Meditation. Medication works longer but can have bad side effects. Meditation works shorter term and has 0 side effects, and practised more lasts longer and becomes a default thought process sooo. . . I am learning through Buddhist teachings to let my thoughts pass. If you become the 'Watcher of your thoughts' you will see that as sunlight makes a seed grow and flourish the time we give to a negative thought does the same, before we know it the thought has grown to worst case scenario and we are now terrified of what we perceive may happen (but 99.9% won't) . Acknowledge when a bad thought enters your mind, allow it to return to your stream of consciousness and let it pass like a cloud.

Thank you Tania,
My story is 8 years of chronic anxiety, a list of medications as long as your arm Inc Diazepam, Trazodone and Zopiclone.
All had an effect on me as a person that made me feel like a zombie (in a dream but awake) all the time as they weaved their magic on the chemicals in my brain.
2x Full CBT courses, 1x Clinical Psychology, 1x Counselling.
Pretty much every possible Anxiety related symptom and resultant hospital and medical checks - All fine.
I am inbetween meds and coping with some mindfulness and meditation and hope that my story may help someone else attempt a natural medication free recovery.

Peace :folded_hands:
