And all is just as it should be! I am allowed to drive again, ok not my own little sports car but I can drive the hubby's until 3 months post op then I can drive my baby again!
Also, and this is the biggie, I can sleep on my side again. Woohoo! I can't wait for bed time! I have a feeling though that I'm so used to not sleeping that I may still be up half the night. Fingers crossed!
My consultant doesn't want to see me again, not until the end of the summer anyway when he wants to do the right hip. I just have to keep doing what I'm doing and strengthen the new hip in readiness for the next new one.
I still have to observe the 90 degree rule but can start thinking about going back to work with some help from occupational help in place. I finally feel like I've turned a corner and it's great! Had fish and chips and washing it down with a glass of the hubby's white burgundy to celebrate!
Hope my fellow hippies have all had a good day too.
It is great when we have good days. Three weeks post op for me and, today, I walked 1.5 miles into town with one crutch, came back and mowed the lawn. Can't believe the progress I have made!
Hi well done you! I had my physio and she said I can call the hospital to ask them to refer me for hydrotherapy! I am still very bruised and right knee is clicking each time I walk! But warm water will hopefully help!I still have carers in to help with hubby as I still can't cope full time!but a big step! Regards Amanda
Ali, just wondering what sports car you have. I've been driving my SLK since just over 6 weeks (consultant didn't ask what car I had and I didn't offer the info). Generally I don't have problems getting in and out unless I can't get the door open fully, but it's great to be out in it, especially this weather. I also need right hip doing but consultant wants me to try and last to the 6 month point before he does it.
I have a Mazda MX-5. It's very low to the ground so when my consultant said I could drive again I thought it best to tell him what I drove. At first he seemed as if he was ok with it but then he said maybe it would be best to leave it another 4 weeks. I'm going abroad on my hols towards the end of May so have decided to leave driving it until I come back at the start of June. There will still be lots of opportunities to get the roof down so I've decided to not risk it. I can drive my hubby's car until then so it's not as if I have no transport. I think the SLK's are slightly higher off the ground than my Mazda so maybe it's ok. I know I will have to go last the 90 degree mark to get in it so it'll have to wait I'm afraid.
I've had 3 MX-5s and yes, they are a bit lower than the SLK, so I can understand the wait. I had my left hip done and my SLK is an automatic, which makes it very easy to drive at the mo. Have a good hols and enjoy the driving when you get back.
BTW I thought I'd ask my consultant yesterday about cycling and he gave the go ahead for me to use an exercise bike but not a proper one on the roads. I've got myself one on order to help strengthen my thigh muscles and also try and get me in better shape generally 😊
