Been about 2 months but the burn is back... been using Premarin ( I am in the United States) and doing okay,but Saturday I felt the pain starting. depressed, anxious, tired, burning and I know it is another UTI.... taking pyridium over the counter to help with the pain but here I go again. waiting for I don't know what to go get a test... so discouraging....
Tried Premarin and it did not work for me. Back to Vagifem and am doing so much better. But I also take d-mannose every day and use coconut oil internally every day too. Talk to your dr again and see what else they might prescribe. I'm in Illinois.

Everything works for awhile then wham.... I am in california, doctor I saw last month says medical profession is recognizing this condition and more breakthroughs should be coming. waiting for the trials on the laser (mona lisa) to start next year...
Could be diet related. I usually avoid bread until last weekend as I was on holiday and hey presto the soreness around my anus came back! So that is the last piece of toast I will eat.
Interesting... I have been avoiding bread and recently ate it, could be.... I am a vegetarian, lots of protein but there are times I fall off the wagon and this was one of them.... no more bread...
Maybe I am gluten sensitive or it could be the yeast in bread. I also had more than my fair share of beer as did a couple of brewery tours. More yeast. And I did used to get thrush so the word yeast jumps out at me again. The Hydromol and vit e capsules seem to be easing it.
my doctor said premarin because I can put the cream around the opening too... who knows....
I certainly enjoy a good beer but have given that up too. Today I had to smile, someone said to use coconut oil, so thats what I did, warmed it up and put it on and I was thinking look what it has come to. If someone said use peanut butter I would try anything to avoid the pain and a uti. This is an awful situation ... who knew senior years, or even earlier, would be spent like this. waiting a day or so before I get the test for uti...

nancyo, I don't warm up the coconut oil as it melts when I put it on to the warm place (if you get my jist!)
