Well I am back at home after having my op last Friday, feel very sore and tired,, I think that is due to the morphine, codeine paracetamol plus all my diabetic tablets, neutrinos thing at night, NO TEDS just keep the legs moving hopefully will be more amenable, just feel very tearfully moment xx
Maralyn, you and me both. Pharmasist closed so only gave me two doses. Got home last so tired had some food then went to bed had a really bad night, got out of bed to go loo and got stuck getting into bed, first night done for us both.
I'm 2 weeks in, still emotional lol! Every day gets easier! Rest well. Xxx
Bed, Toilet, A little Food (high protein) and lots of rest, your body is coping with lack of marrow, (so reduced ability to make red blood cells, they carry your oxygen). also the shock of effectively breaking a bone in the leg, knitting all that tissue they had to cut through. Don't push to hard at this stage, you will start to get better, and as your energy levels increase each day, you will find yourself doing more. Bum crunches when lying in bed, flex feet as far as you can go, and then pull toes towards shins as far as you can go, bend knees and pull towards torso, not to far, remember 90 degree rule, all exercises you can do in bed, don't wear out your heels, can somebody rub some hand cream into heels for you, just to stop them drying out.
Aw marilyn,
Sending warm hugs. Have you got someone with you?
Try to find a friend or neighbour who can give you a bit of moral support.
The worst bit is over but you need TLC to get you through this.

Tears....tissuez....more tears. ...a laugh... its notmal. Your body has just been through hell. Have s good howl. Put a sad movie on. Im 9 weeks. Still teary. But its ok.
Hello Marilyn,
If you are like me when I came home I expected it to be
easier second time round, and it wasn't , it was different.
It was, unless my memory failed me, more painful at first,
which was a shock. You are safely home, with no TEDs,
what a plus that is. This will pass, we can't rush it, and your
hidden strengths will get you through.
with special thoughts Cathie
Hi Marilyn,
So glad you are back home, now starts the fun and games of getting around and coping with being unable to bend down to pick up things you drop
Take it easy, just keep doing whatever the physios tell you to do.
Not having TEDs is a real plus - I have been told to wear mine for 6 weeks - very uncomfortable.
Tears are normal - even for us 'strong' blokes - we all get bad days when we are down, I had one yesterday - and good days, today I'm much better . At 18 days now, and managed a one-mile walk around town today in half the time it took me to do a half-mile yesterday.
Hope you perk up soon - this forum will help if anything will.
Best Wishes
Graham
I am a week ahead of you and today I have made significant progress, just be positive. I still have a long way to go but I think the first week must be the worst. Plenty of rest if you can get comfortable. Tony
Marilyn....I was so low after op too. the nurse says it is the 'hippies blues'. It gets better really it does.. Uups and downs but soon more ups than downs.
Chin up.Girl.

dear Marilyn,
that first night home was terribly sad for me too ....felt beaten up and a
stranger in my own life ....especially after 2nd THR September 10. ..
tomorrow will be better ...you're home and it is done!
wish you all a good night with hours of uninterrupted sleep
big warm hug
Renee ❤
Hi marilyn
I hope you had a better night last night.
Kee p your spirits up. Our weather here has calmed a bit and I slept better last night, The flu jab has given me mild flu symptoms since Sunday so I have been feeling very under the weather.
You will be sore for a while as the bruising comes out. It does wear off but it takes its time.
