I have been experiencing back and chest pain/soreness for about a year now. The back pain is nonstop, never goes away. The chest pain/soreness more comes and goes. The best way I can describe the pain is a sore type of pain, worse when bending over/arching my back/stretching, and seems to be worse when I sit down too. It feels the best when laying down. It also has a kind of burning or hot sensation, similar to how acid reflux feels in my stomach. For the chest pain, the best way I can describe it is that it feels like it “travels” between my chest and upper back. Like I can feel like deep soreness through my chest and upper back. I can also feel the soreness in my chest and back when taking a deep breath. I would say that in general, my lower back tends to hurt the most, but I still have pain in my entire back. It is really bothering me and making me feel like it will never go away.
This really started bothering me within the last year, as the back pain has become constant. I went and saw a gastroenterologist because the burning sensation I feel feels exactly like acid reflux. But, I was told that the pain and burning in my back definitely wouldn’t be caused by GERD, unless it had something to do with my gallbladder. So my doctor had me get an abdominal ultrasound, but everything looked completely normal.
I am planning to make a doctor appointment with a new primary doctor soon because I know this is long overdue. I am just very anxious about it because I have very high anxiety and health anxiety. So it is really hard for me to go to the doctor because of that. I am always scared of finding out I have a really serious disease. If anyone has any advice for me, I would really appreciate it.
