Back from sunny Spain

8) Just back from eleven days in Spain. I think all those with PMR should be given at least 2 prescriptions a year to spend a few days in the sun! Apart from one very bad day (wearing a concrete overcoat is my description for it  ) and two medium bad days, the rest of the holiday I felt better than I have done for months. The weather was the best I've ever experienced in November and I've been going regularly since 1984. The sun and the warmth were very, very beneficial and I just wish that I could whisk you all away for a few days R&R :!: I didn't even find the travelling too tiring although I did make sure that I didn't overdo it the day before or after to give me a fighting chance. As an aside, I had the normal and swine flu jabs just before going away (on the insistence of my Consultant, swine flu is wide spread in Spain just now) and didn't have any side effects apart from a sore arm for a couple of days. I have to have a second one on Friday. I hope everyone is feeling as well as possible - I now have to catch up on Christmas shopping, might be a lot of vouchers this year.

Take care from Lizzie Ellen

Hi like you I find the warm weather better for me I am returning to Spain shortly away from this snow.I have just posted my own experiences . you may find them interesting .pat

Hi Pat,

I've just read your other post. Really interesting. This really is a very puzzling illness, but your story is new one on me. I'll be interested to hear what others have to say. As regards to Spain, we're off again in early February and although it won't be baking hot, it'll certainly be warmer than here! What part of Spain are you going to? We have a home in the Costa Blanca where the weather is very ambient. I found my trip in November really set me up and I don't know if it was the weather or the correct medication that seems to have set me up for a steady improvement.

Have a great time in Spain and hope you enjoy good weather and good health.

H i thanks for responding.we leave for Spain on Sunday for three and a half weeks. our little house is in Santa Pola. I seem to be in a good phase at the moment ,but the weather in Spain is not that good but still better than cardiff. We just hope we can get to the airport. hope you are keeping well .pat

Santa Pola, know it well, not far from our place in Torrevieja! Its supposedly raining out there at the moment but I went on the Torrevieja webcam (sad person that I am!) and the sun was shining! Don't believe the weather forecast - its got to be much warmer than here. Don't you just hate this snow, disrupts everything. Take care and keep well.

Hi Lizzie

I am very interested about spain and the benefits you get from this.

We have been too short of cash to holiday abroad last 3 years but I do have friends in spain - do you really get benefit, do you lose the concrete overcoat or do you feel worse when you come back.

I would happily `borrow' if I thought I'd get relief I am just worried I feel worse when I get back.

What do you think - you have such a great insight and I know you are off again soon.
