back on waiting list for posterior repair

well after thinking my anterior repair that i had done in febuary had failed , my doctor is sure it is the rectocele that was not repaired that has came down and not my cystocele, i am being refered back to to the urogyneologist for another surgery ,my doctor thinks it was take around 12 weeks for my appointment then another 12 weeks for surgery so think it will be nearer xmas before i get surgery

helen I'm so pleased you've now got a diagnosis because there's nothing worse than worrying about failed surgery. I hope you get seen before 12 weeks so you can feel well for Christmas.

Oh Helen, I am sorry you have to go in again, but I am pleased the original surgery seems to be OK. We wish you a speedy appointment!

Hi Helen,

I'm in much the same position as you. I'm seeing a urogynaecologist (thanks to Matron for advice on that) for a second opinion this week. I have a rectocele which is causing quite a few bathroom issues but also my anterior repair may have partially failed. I need her advice on what to do as it took me ages to recover from the first op I am hoping it will just be the rectocele but I fear there may be more going on up there!

My rectocele has definitely got worse since the anterior repair, I think this is because the bladder was holding it up. They say it's "moderate" but it has taken over my life. I want to get it sorted which is why I'm having this second opinion.

At least you know your first op is ok and hopefully they can repair you before the end of the year - you can start 2017 as a new woman! Good luck.

What a lovely surprise, welcome back Matron.

Well they will be breaking government targets if you have to wait that long, you should be seen and treated within 18 weeks.

Pleased you're seeing a Urogynaecologist Imnotadoctor xx

Thank you carolyn x

thank you matron

thank you , i actually feel a bit relieved that my original surgery seems ok

Thank you Matron.

I will let you know how I get on. 😀

hi im exactly the same, they dsaid my retocele was minimal so left it, i fel as soon as they lifted bladder this has allowed retocele to fall even lower, just wish both were fixed at same time

my last op i waited 26 weeks from dotor referal to seeing consultant then just under 12 weeks from then for my operation, different areas must have diferent rules as we are max waiting time of 84 days from seeing consultant to operation

Hi Helen. On my original letter it said waiting time limit was 18 weeks from 1st appointment with a gynae. I though that was government ruling. Might be worth enquiring about it locally. I'm waiting to get a posterior prolapse done then maybe a vaginal vault prolapse if all goes well. I'm beginning to think my 70's is not going to be a good decade!  Take care, Pollyanna UK

It is 18 weeks Pollyanna and if hospitals don't meet that timescale they are fined or their rating downgraded x

That's correct, it's the RTTimes date, referral to treatment. It starts from when the hospital first accept your referrall from the gp not when you see the consultant. The clock is already ticking by the time your seen.

hi, yeah when i was first refered i was just under 12 weeks from 1st seeing gyne to my operation  x

is it 18 weeks from seeing your doctor though , i dont know how that can be as i waited a lot longer than that first time round and my doc has already told me 3 months waiting list just to see consultant and on my last hospital letter it stated 12 weeks max wait for operation from seeing consultant

I found my wait was extended as it took several weeks to get through the local referral service and I had to make lots of phone calls to them and my GP practice and eventually to the hospital they referred me to.
