Back pain

Hi guys, I’m 13 weeks post op posterior Trhr all seems to be going well I’m back to work and walking unaided. I seem to be having lower back pain after walking short distances and standing, this only seems to have started over the last couple of weeks. Any ideas as to what it could be please.

Hi Pam,

I am also 13 weeks post op and have had some unexplained aches in my lower back and front abductors. My PT suggested McKenzie stretches, and they have helped a lot. Look these up on Google. Developed by a PT in New Zealand. As my PT said, they might help and they can’t hurt.

Hi Pamela,

You probably did not leave your hip as long as I did which was several years, I was certainly doing my penguin impression for over five years. The doctor I saw at six week check up on Wednesday said I had damage at the bottom of my back and the other hip is on the way out, he asked if I had pain so I was wondering if this was the reason for your back pain.

Hi pam

Had you had a limp prior to operation? Could be all the length adjustments. Do you have any leg discrepancy now? X

Dear Pamala I would suspect that your back pain could be put right by a visit to a good non McTimoney chiropractor. Cheers Richard

Thank you Gasparilla, I will have to check them out.

Thanks for your response Jen, I did leave it about 3 years🙄my other hip apparently is fine at the mo, hopefully it will ease off as quickly as it came.

Thanks for your response Penny, yes I did have quite a bad limp before the op. The limp has gone unless of course I overdo it, and no leg discrepancy now thankfully.

Thanks for your response Richard. Good advice,I think if the pain carries on that maybe an option.

It might be your piaformis muscle.  It wraps around your gluteus Maximus from the lower back to the anterior thigh.  Some chairs tend to irritate it also.  Talk to your physical therapist.  They will be able to tell you what to do.  Some simple stretching is all you may need to do.

Thank you, you are right certain chairs do make it worse. I will have to google piaformis  muscle and look into it. Thank you for your advice.

I have this some 2.5 years after THR, seems my lower spine now has OA symptoms.

It hurts when I sneeze when standing, but OK when sitting, pain across my lower back into the buttocks.

Going to the gym now, and I know it's not the legs, as I can walk and cycle fine now, problems surface if I do sitting body twists..
