Went back to work yesterday, felt like I was a new starter, shaking like a leaf lol
It was ok as mainly paperwork. This morning up at 4.30am to start at 6.00am, today was the real test,my proper job. Most of it ok, go up my steps with good leg first, my bad side can't do steps yet. Nearly squatted a few times, so easy to forget, the kneeling was hard,my knees are not used to it any more, but getting up was harder lol,my friend was going to help me up but I need to do this myself.
5 hours at work then home, sat down to have some lunch and spent the next two hours nodding off, woke up at one point my brother-in-law stood over melol. Did not realise I would be sooo tired, never been out for my walk either. The only complaint, I feel uncomfortable deep in my left bum cheek, probably because the muscles are getting used again.
I was 13 weeks yesterday, it was like I had never been away.
Hi Lynn , wow you did really well - well done you 😀Am not surprised you were worn out , yours is a very physical job - Do let your colleagues help if they offer - am sure they want to support you xxx
Thanks bini, I'm off to bed, day off tomorrow, so can go for my walk. Think it may be a week or two before I can do work and walk again. We are a good team and help each other out, so I don't think I'll have a problem with them helping.
Hi all, I'm going back to work tomorrow, 10 weeks post op. I'm quite looking forward to it and I'm only going in for half days for first week, but like others have said, I'm still not sleeping great and get so tired in the afternoons, hope I don't fall asleep in a meeting!😴
Fantastic Lynn - so good to hear that this went positively overall. I am not suprised by your fatigue as you are far further ahead than I, I still need my periodic afternoon nap and I am so relieved that I am retired and did not have to face a full-time job.
It sounds as if you did brilliantly and should congratulate yourself on this step and commitment to making space for regular walks. Just don't beat yourself up if you have to miss some occasionally!
I think your long walks have helped massively in getting you back into condition for such a physical job. Well done. I don't think I'd be up to that sort of work yet. I know I'm a couple of weeks behind you but still, I can't imagine climbing step-ladders in two weeks
I'm slowly getting back into my bowling. I was told 12 weeks and I'm just 11 weeks yesterday, but starting slowly and not overdoing it.
I play lawn bowls, not 10-pin. You might not be familiar with it as it is a very English game although it is played in other countries. If you are familiar then I apologise. It's more the walking up and down the green that's the hardest so I'm starting off gently.
I am familiar with the game .. very popular amongst the elderly British community in Los Angeles - Good grief, I realize that I am their age now .... even older !!!!!
don't mean to insult you or anybody - they were all very fit and looked great all in white !!!
Thank you, judging by how today has gone, I have been limping a bit more today, so maybe the walks will have to be cut back a little until I get used to being back at work. I used to go work then a 5 mile walk when I went home. It will come again, I'll make sure of it.
I seriously think they have, I may of struggled more if I hadn't done it, that's why I pushed myself to do longer walks, but then again, I just love being out in the fields.
There are only three steps, but have to be folded and moved everytime you have something different to put up, but I managed
Your moving forward Cels, remember you saying you wished you could do it and now you are. Onwards and upwards for all of us.
First day at work went well, and I have been out tonight with friends to celebrate🎉. many people on this site have said this - just need to take one day at a time and focus on building strength. It's amazing!☺️
