Hi ladies haven't posted for a while so thought it was time for me to update. I went back to work 9 weeks after my cystele rectocelle anterior repair just for a few hours which went ok. I had a week away then I returned to work after the week to full 33hrs on light duties. Couldn't believe how tired I felt 2 weeks into it. A little concerned as I feel quite sore & a little swollen & have felt what feels like a stich, just inside even though it's now 13 weeks post op.Had a visit to the nurse but she couldn't see it only feel it. Also had 2 bouts of thrush & a water infections. Any ladies had similar problems, not sure how it should be after 13 weeks!
Do you think you've done too much maggie? In view of what the nurse felt I would see your GP and he may want you to see the surgeon again. Did you have a post op outpatient appointment?
I had thrush and a bladder infection about 4 weeks post op,which came back again about 2 weeks later, was still sore and bleeding 8 to 10 weeks after. I don't go to work anymore but have tried to get back to doing things in the house and garden that I did before but not lifting heavy stuff. Am now 16 weeks post op and there are still some days where I still feel uncomfortable if I've overdone it,having had a bad cough and cold hasn't helped either,I can feel the strain on my undercarriage after I've had a coughing fit.LadyPink on here told me it was almost 8 months before she felt back to full fitness and I think she was right. I never used to feel so tired in the day as I do now since having the op. Just take care, would it be possible to do reduced hours for a while longer until you feel you are fighting fit xx
I think you maybe right about doing too much, it's really hard to judge what level of activity you should be doing, I guess "listen to your body"is the best approach. At my six week check I had water problems so I was made another appointment to attend if the problem was still there. So I will keep the appointment I think.
I think that's a good idea. Take care and slow down!
I think maybe I expected too much too soon, it's a lot longer recovery than I expected. At my six week post op check was told it was ok to get back to normal but no lifting & I could return to work. Thought this was too early so I had another 3 Weeks off. I now feel this was not the best advice. I do take time out to rest while at work but I may find that I need to go back to reduced hours.
Much longer recovery than we are led to believe and by and large the surgeons are men who don't have a clue what is going on in our lady parts and never will. You need to take all the time you can until you feel normal again, although I don't feel any of us will ever be the expected "normal" as we're doing way more than we were ever physically designe d to do. Take care, hope you feel better soon
Hi Maggie, I think theUTI and thrush are par for the course for some of us. I have had both but all gone now thankfully. Think it might have been better if you'd been able to do part time at work for a bit longer. Need to be really careful.
