I am going to be returning back to work on 22nd July I am 10 weeks do you think this too soon, I am doing it phase return 20 hours first week, 24 hours and 39hours 3 rd week
not sure I'd wsant to go to work after 10 weeks but everyone is different. See you tomorrow
Part of me doesn't want to go back I see the Dr again on 22nd and he is going to write down what I can or can't do I will chat about it more tomorrow when I see you, do you like cake
If you feel in doubt and you don't have to go back so soon, maybe you should stay off a while longer...... my old bos taught me "if in doubt don't do it" and I abide by that rule... it was a good lesson. I like cake if it's accompanied by a cup of coffee lol xxx night night xx
Good luck wotever you decide .....yes early for some but not for others.
On a normal distribution it's probably a borderline yes...but as we keep saying everyone is different. I was amazed one guy who went back to work and cricket at 6 weeks, someone else worried about needing a wheelchair at 20 weeks at a theme park trip. So we all very different!

Did you get the e mail with the photos
Most definitely I have loads of coffee here instant or speculated I am posh when I want to be lol
I'm going back to work next week which will be 10 weeks post op, only going to do a couple of half day coaching/counselling sessions for the first couple of weeks and see how I go. As I'm sat down and don't have to physically exert myself I feel ready to go back. So I guess it depends on what you do Marilyn and whether you have long periods of standing etc. Whatever make sure you don't overdo it and overtire yourself a phased return is ideal But more importantly do you feel ready to return to work if you need more time then take it, good luck with whatever you decide. Take care xx
Hi marilyn ... what kind of work do you do? I am sure you mentioned it, but I forgot-
it depends on how your body feels and if you are up to it ..
you will probably have abetter idea when you see your surgeon ...
on another topic, are you baking a cake ?? and what is "speculated" coffee?
wishing you a good and peaceful night
OK, I read this an panicked a little, I only have 6 weeks off and as I am 3 weeks post op this Wed, I only have another 3 weeks left My employer has been fantastic and has allowed me to take my sick leave in advance and have even said I can ease back into it by doing part time hours but 10 weeks??? Eeeek!! I have a relatively sedentary job so I'm hoping that I will be OK.
Depends on the type of work. I have 5 weeks off then returning full time. I'm not expecting to be back to normal but think I'll be pretty close. I'm day 13 and walking unaided so feel like I'm on target.
Everyones capability and situation is different. We are building a new house so I want to take some leave in September so will get back to work for a few weeks beforehand. Also before I was very fit so this has definitely impacted in a good way on my recovery.
Thats good that you are going back gradually.

Wow Georgie11 that's amazing! You are doing so well!!. Did you have an anterior or posterior op? How did you stay so fit before your op? I could hardly walk because my hip kept popping out and even swimming hurt. I am 3 weeks post op on Wednesday and thought I was doing really well being down to one crutch. I can walk without them but I am defintely doing the penguin shuffle. I am noticing an improvement every day and the physio gave me some new exercises today to work on. You are amazing!
I had anterior. Yes I was fit, doing triathlon until last year with a stiff hip totally oblivious. Start of the season I got groin pain and it got worse from there. I stopped running November and managed to cycle until about Easter then was left with swimming!!
1 crutch is fantastic, I found I could self correct without an aid and it wasn't supporting me at all.. I'm sure you'll progress a lot in the next few weeks, best wishes.
Oh OK, that makes more sense, I had a posterior. There aren't many surgeons who do the anterior where I live. Where are you? I saw the physio today and she has said that I can go to one crutch as I am walking without a limp with the one but I start "penguining" with no crutch. She's also said I can get back on the exercise bike as long as I abide by my hip rules.
I was totally oblivious to what was causing my pain as well. I thought it was nerve damage from my daughter's c-section 8 years ago and that just needed another nerve block - I was obviously wrong! I just thought I wasn't stretching enough after running! LOL
Best wishes to you also
me too ... I had this pain in my groin after a transcontinental 11 hours flight - you know, narrow seat and no leg space, I was sure I just pulled a muscle ....
oh that's so me, saw physio for ages because thought I had tight hip flexors!!
i live in Wollongong NSW

I really think it is a combination of how fast you are recovering and what your job actually consists ogre standing, walking, lifting etc.yor commute must also come into the equation. I started back on a phased return after 12 weeks, got the GP to sign the extended form for a month. I did two days first week , and slept as soon as I got home. My commute is 26 miles each way. I also referred myself to the OH dept when I got back so they will be around to help with any difficulties and I will get some extra physio.
just be careful with yourself and honest with both colleagues and your boss so they can help, if you do not tell them they cannot know if you need any help. Above all do not be afraid to admit it if it is too much
Hi Marilyn
Depends on what you do, if your job is quite physical or your on your feet all day a phased return is a must, then see how you go, I did a phased return and needed more phasing lol but work was good and facilitated that, so take it slowly and good luck
Vicki xx
I am cashier although sitting down I still have to lift crates of beer and wine stretch and twist some times to get items off the conveyer belt
