After 12 weeks if second hip replacement I returned back to work today on a phase return. Was alright but a bit tiring after a couple hrs now hip is aching a bit. Resting now x
I'm worried sick about going back to work - I want to go back as I'm getting a bit (well rather a lot) depressed at home on my own all day and weather is so cold wet and miserable I can't even go out for a walk. That's if I could drive yet or even walk properly.
but my worry is - doing care work I work 12 hour shifts rushing about like a mad woman in and out of the car at break neck speed morning calls are showering dressing people etc etc lunches and teas are not so physical apart from those that need help to use commodes etc.
Im worried I'm not going to be able to physically move quick enough - company I work for are not the best so a phased return to work is probably a non starter. I'm on zero hours contract minimum wage so can't stay off work for much longer.
I envy people with Employers that care about staff - mine have never even phoned to see if I'm still alive!!
5 or 6 numbers on the lottery would be very welcome at this point in time
Take care it's good to hear you're nearly back to normal health xx
Thanks alot yes I eorkvin a nursing home as a housekeeper so I know how busy care work is and the long hours. My manager is very supportive , Hope you return to work soon
Similar work then - I've often thought about going into residential in that there is no travel less petrol etc etc but I love the variety of community care and to a certain extent I'm my own boss. But the thought of 20-25 people on my 1st rota back..... OMG
Why not talk to your local mobility shop to see if they have any vacancies? I own mobility shops and we only employ people who have been carers
I think zero hours contracts are an outrage and have been campaigning against them locally. Carers get a really bad deal. However, carers are in high demand. There are always advertisements and there are some ( a few) good companies out there. So maybe time to start job hunting. Many of them need admin assistants as well.
Good luck. Hope things get better for you
