Well I attempted to back to work yesterday. I am six weeks post op tomorrow and today I feel like I was ran over by a bus. I am sore from my eyeballs to my feet. I am sooo upset.
Oh erika l am sorry to here that hun l never even attempted at 6 weeks but l had my next hip replacement coming up so had to stay off. I would have gave it 2 months before l tried. I have had both done and am still off work this will be my 7th month now although l was off a month before my 1st thr and l know l could not go back even yet. I here of all these people going back after 6 weeks and some manage it no bother l think it depends what work you do but l could not sit at a computer for 7 hrs l can barley sit 3 without being in agony. But l have had both done and now l have knee trouble. I hope you did not go back today as you are clearly not ready hun?

Hi Erika,
My heart goes out to you! We had our op on the same day but I don't know how I'd get to work (don't drive) never mind survive the day yet. What do you do?
Are you at home today? Big massive hugs.
Fiona

At 6 weeks I was on 2 crutches and felt like a zombie, bursting into tears for no reason and hardly sleeping. That you even attempted it, is a credit to you.
You should listen to your body and don't go back too early as it will not help your recovery. Don't be disheartened as most of us would feel the same or worse. My consultant gave 3 months as a sensible time before returning to work. At 6 weeks, even Wayne Sleep, a very athletic and highly trained ballet dancer, could hardly get out of bed!
Look after yourself and put your health first until you are ready.
good luck!
I think you are very brave and ambitious, I was not expected back for 12 weeks and was very grateful for the whole time. Even then it was a phased return and my job is in a microbiology laboratory.
you will make it in the end. Hope you are resting today
Good morning Laura,
I am at home resting. I couldn't physically even if I tried. I am so bummed..I work at a computer too and after I sat for so long I was sooo sore. I limped out of there.
Thank you and hope you are having a good recovery,
Erika
Hi FIONA!! I think I pushed it. I decided to stay home today. I probably should have started half a day.....
Hope your recovery is going well....I felt great until j decided to go back to work.
Absolutely!!! Very good advice!! Thank you
Hi Erika,
We just crave normality, don't we. I still don't sleep for more than a few hours at a time, I'm definitely getting there, but I don't feel ready for work yet. Big high five to you for trying though.
Take care and relax today

Hello erika
You poor luv, 6 weeks is way too early, in my opinion, to ho back to work, no wonder you feel weepy and exhausted.
Your body has gone through a major operation, which affects you both physically and psychologically, just be kind to yourself, let your body heal, relax and heal.
I'm sorry I do not know your financial situation but you might be eligible for benefits to help you until you are fit enough to return to work.
I hope I haven't spoken out of turn, and wish you all the best in a full recovery
Luv x Kath
Oh gosh. Well I guess it can only get better, and also it makes the rest of us think, well yes it is ok to continue to rest.
Good luck, I hope it improves xxx
Thanks Kath,
Financially I am fine, I think it's like Fiona said, just wanting some normalcy back on my life....
Thank you... I did stay home today
Yes rest!!! Malloo it is not worth it.
Thanks... Erika
So sorry to hear you are not feeling great. As most have said maybe a little too early to attempt to go back full time. Its not just the invasive op but all the meds etc. Maybe go back to your doctor/consultant and ask if they could sign you off for another month. You need this time to recover - certainly I would say 3 months. We all recover at different rates. Take care and I do hope you feel better soon. x x
Stay home give yourselves another few weeks, you will only get more frustrated and probably may put yourself back instead of forwards.
good luck and take care.

Hi I am 21 and due PAO on the 1st July.. How bad is it as I am a slow healer and hate pain I have 2 kids and my partner is bein very supportive I am really sceard how long were you all in hospital for.
What's happens after the op need some advise as no one in my family have hip dysplasia.
It is a total desire to be normal l know exactly how she feels l went through a very rough time a few weeks back when l felt l was never going to be normal again you just feel so icolated from the outside world and l felt was goung off my head yet l also had a fear of going back because l had been of for so long. Its a hard thing to go through. I had no idea having 2 hips replaced would have such an impact on my life but its almost 8 months now and its still affecting it in a huge way. A year ago l was just a normal woman working hard 5 days a week with a normal life and could go holidays and walks if l wanted . Then my world was turned upside down and l feel like a completley diffrent person. I have lost loads of confidence in the way l look and meeting people l have days l cry and days l am fine. Its a massive operation that does help in the long run its just the recovery can be long and hard. Nobody understands thats not had hip surgery so its hard trying ti justify why you feel crap some days and struggle with normal life.
Let your body tell you when its ready erika don't push it as you will end uo hurting more. Xxx
Bless you, take it easy. Can you do a phased return? X
aww Erika - that was very ambitious darling - but you wouldn't have known unless you tried, right?
don't beat yourself up for it, okay?
if possible, take more time off and then a phased return perhaps -
no harm done !!!!
it is a good sign though that you felt well enough to go back to work -
big warm hug
and give erika some TLC
