Back to Work

Morning all

I'm off back to work on Thursday, phased return, 4 hours per day & I can't wait! It will be 11 weeks on Wednesday since my op & I am now 99% back to normal. For all of you waiting or just going through the first part of recovery, keep your chin up & think positive, it does get better x

Well done Fernlady and good luck.  You have done so well.  I was 11 weeks yesterday and feel great but not sure I'm 99% I would say I'm about 75% .  I'm happy and know I'm getting there. Isn't it great to be having none of that horrible constant pain.   My only worry is I have to have my other hip replaced eventually.  It's not too bad at the moment but I can feel a few niggles and reminders of what my new hip was like,  im certainly not in a hurry to have another op, that's for sure,  at least I'll know what to expect when the time comes.  Enjoy going back to work and I'm so pleased for you. Xx

Well done Fernlady! You've done faulously and ... supported so many of us along the way wit hu our and grace.

Thank you. I wish you well.

With a big hug,

Linda

Thanks Jennifer, I just wanted to give hope to the newbies that it's not all doom & gloom & there is light at the end of the tunnel. It's such a great feeling like you said having none of the OA pain. I've just come back from a 3 mike walk with my hubby & dog around our local woods. The hubby took me off the beaten track which was great as a few months ago I never would have been able to do this! Good luck with your continuing recovery x

Thanks Linda, I too had a lot of support from forum members particularly with my million questions pre-op! It's such a great site & fantastic we can help each other x

Congratulations Fernlady! I'm on day 2 post-op and as I'm pretty sore this morning it just helps me focus on that light at the end of the tunnel. So happy for you. Enjoy your first week back to "normal'!

Fantastic news!

I too am 11 weeks post op and have a planned phased return for 26 September! You have done amazingly well and should be proud.

Will be thinking of you on Thursday- don't overdo it, pace yourself and enjoy the pain free freedom xx

dear fernlady,

well done darling - great that you are excited and looking forward to go back to work - very encouraging and thank you for shring ..

please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on, okay - the little challenges and big victories of going back to "normal" life ...

big warm hug

renee

Well done there Fernlady, you're well over the worst of it now.

Positive thinking helped me enormously Fiona. I took it all in my stride & just kept remembering that the OA pain was worse. Good luck with your recovery x

Thanks Kate, you too. I'm away on holiday in Norfolk on 24th September so I thought I'd better go back & 'do a bit' before I break up again! X

Well Renee, what can I say to you that hasn't already been said by other veteran hippies. You really are a wonderful lady who has such kind words for everyone. You remind me of a favourite aunt or grandma (sorry, don't mean that to sound old) who everyone goes to for a cup of tea & some words of wisdom or if they just want to have a little moan. You have been so encouraging, not just to me but to everyone young, old, newbies & veterans & for that I truly thank you xxx

Hi Graham, I learned more from your site than any professional advice I have ever received. I remember when I first joined the forum & read everything on your site & thought it all very daunting. I have re-read it several times (pre-op & post-op) & am very grateful for the time you have taken to document everything. It is a wonderful resource that I tell everyone about (including my surgeon & Physio) & kind of you & others to share their experiences, thank you & best wishes x

Well said Fernlady! I have shared Graham's site with everyone I know going through this and have to say that it is staggering number!

Graham's site has a wealth of information and continues to grow with new advice and observations from this forum and, I dare say, his own rich experience with the surgery and system.

I deeply appreciate the advice I have derived from it .. and been able share with others.

May the Rocketman live long and live well.

With high regard and appreciation.

L

Manythanks to you all - I enjoyed putting it together, it kept me busy during my recovery, so assisted in passing the time.

Of course I could not have done any of it without the other helpful contributors on this forum, whether answering, or asking questions (without questions, there are no answers). Then of course there is the Patient Info site and moderators, without which none of us would be able to chat to each other.

Hi fern Glad your doing so well, I'm 9 weeks now, but have had continuos nerve pain, the hip itself is fine. I was just wondering if you where driving yet, nobodys actually said when i will be able to. Also have you heard of the 3month rule. I'm not sure what that is. Hope you get on alright when you go back to work. best wishes valx

Well done, it is lovely to hear you are fit and well. Good luck with your return to work. You have been such a strength to me during our recovery. I hope you have continued good health  and enjoy 'normality'

best wishes love Malloo x

Hi

Hi Malloo, are you back at work yet? I'm sure you may have already told me but my brain has gone mushy whilst I've been off (another good reason to get back)!

I think we have all helped each other & had a few laughs along the way!

I was up your way last week - we could have met up with the dogs for a lovely long walk (bliss). Love to you x
