After 4 years, getting down to 1 - 2 mg on alternating days and feeling good, I had a serious flare up and was told to up the pred. to 15mg. Is there no end to PMR
poor you what rotten luck to get so far and then have a set back i am only 14 months in and have had to up steroids once ,from the other forums i have read its not uncommon to have this happen but often the second time around after reducing to low figures it sometimes is more straight forward to get back on the reducing road ,good luck with it all you must be feeling really fed up carolk
Hello Odiecass and good to hear from you again though not so good to hear about you experiencing a flare after getting to such a low dose after 4 years. I can understand how frustrated you must feel. Can you pinpoint anything that may have contributed to the flare such as any undue stress or infection of any sort?
After 6+ years, I am almost off the steroids but am all too aware that things can go pear-shaped for no apparent reason as far as PMR/GCA is concerned, so I have everything crossed.
I do hope that at least you are feeling more comfortable following upping the Pred and, as Carol has said, it is often easier to get down through the doses the second time around so I hope that will help to cheer you up.

Hi odiecass - sorry you're back! Of course you may have been in a brief period of remission, just didn't notice as you were still on a low dose. Do hope you are able to reduce faster this time but still successfully. It does appear each lot of PMR is different - but whether it will be worse or better can't be forecast.
All the very best though for this time round
Eileen
