Hello all, I've been having ongoing health issues since September that feels like is being fobbed off as anxiety by doctors? To keep a long story as short as I can. My main concern is that as i was having my smear test back in March they found some sort of infection (never said what) and prescribed something for it. Most symptoms went away, except some discharge. So i spoke to the doctor again over the phone and she prescribed metrodizanole to clear out an assumed infection. My body had a bad reaction to these with mild shortness of breath. I finished them and the shortness of breath subsided except for feeling it whilst laying on my left side on and off.(the discharge still present but im way too scared to go back for more). But a couple of weeks later sitting at my desk I had a really really sharp pain in my left side that was made worse by breathing. It subsided after a few minutes but I've had ongoing on and off dull pain there ever since. And still on and off mild short of breath laying on that side. I feel convinced the antibiotics have damaged something but doctors dont even acknowledge it. The first doctor i spoke to over the phone at the time just said it doesnt sound of any particular red flags - that its just anxiety/stress and i should seek therapy. I tried to ignore it, particularly in pandemic times i don't want to go near a hospital but six months later its still there so I tried a doctor again. She felt the area and listened to my breathing and said its probably just a muscle and do some stretches. I want to believe them but after months now I don't and feel like if i go back I'll be fobbed off again. I guess I'm looking for reassurance if anyone has had anything similar that was "just anxiety"? :( or if it sounds i should pursue further? For a longer background story in September my best friends mum, who i have called my second mum for 15 years paased away from lung cancer. Shortly after this my periods would suddenly not stop, it took a long time to get appointments and answers particularly as the pandemic kicked in that i was scared and anxious for a long time. Finally around March tests showed potentially underactive thyroid and confirmed pcos. In the same week I was told I have pcos my two year old cat suddenly couldn't breathe due to assumed heart failure and I held him as he was euthanised. Days later I was told it may have been asthma... And soon after that i took the metronidazole that have given my own breathing issues ever since. At the time with everything going on it made it easier to think it was stress. But now its six months later October and its still here. I'm so fed up of feeling scared and like something is wrong and doctors don't believe me or at least send me for tests to reassure me. i know its a pandemic and i don't want to burden them but what if there is something actually wrong?... Several years ago i had a severe year long cough - it took a year to find a doctor to actually send me for tests and not fob it off as the weather. By the time I finally was infront of an ENT it was gone. So i have completely lost faith in doctors. Sorry for such a long post. x
