Hi all
I'm 23 and i work in a busy warehouse walking for 10 hours a day and not to long ago I started getting a pain in the right side of my right knee causing me to limp around in pain at times the pain could be really bad to where I have to stop for a minute or 2 then the pain would subside for a while then it would come back I've done my own research on the smptoms and I think I narrowed it down to a meniscus tear or osteoarthritis there's no swelling no bruising pain comes and goes doesn't lock or feel like it's catching. just yesterday I was walking about at work and all this pain in the outside of my right knee as gone but now I have the exactly the same pain in the same place on my left knee within the space of ten minutes I was pain free in one knee but in alot of pain in the other as anyone had same issues or heard of this before
At 23, unlikely that it's arthritis...although freakishly possible. A simple twist of the knee can cause a tear...probably more likely. The only way to know is to see an orthopedic surgeon...not a GP. Get the imaging done.
Beware... Sometimes the test is "inconclusive" and the doc has to scope the knee to find and fix the problem. Four MRIs...same results...four scopes (two each knee)...two meniscus tears, two femoral condyles ripped off.
See the surgeon; get the pictures taken. Meanwhile, ice and elevate...and don't do anything to make it worse...although, if it's a tear, the damage is probably already done. I scheduled each of my scopes on a Friday...same day surgery so you "walk" out that day. Take the weekend to ice and elevate...get a CryoCuff for the knee. I would bring it to work on the Monday after the surgery just to keep it iced. I was always back to normal in a few days...some people take longer. Never did any rehab for a scope.
Thanks for the quick reply I was suspecting it would be more of a tear then athritis I will get an appointment booked and get some scans done
What as me confused is how the same pain as jumped from one knee to the other within minutes but in the exactly the same place with my right knee being pain free now
I work a shift of 4 on 3 off and in thhe 3 days off I keep it rested and the pain goes but on the first day of my shift the pain slowly comes back throughout the day end of the day being painful then just gets worse towards the end of the 4 day shift
Ice and elevate whenever you can. Voltaren Gel (RX in the US) is a great topical anti-inflammatory...that could be a great help. Scopes are literally a piece of cake...it's the TKR that kills you...
