I’ve had a strange red rash forming for the past 4 months around my mouth. Some days it’s better than others but today I’ve woke up with it at its worst. I thought it was psoriasis to begin with because I had it on my whole body for years but I’m unsure now. I’ve been staying away from dairy products, fizzy drinks and bad foods. Have only been drinking water but the doctors won’t see me for a few weeks due to there being no appointments. It’s beginning to hurt and distress me! Help? https://postimg.org/image/uyno4104b/
Perioral dermatitis possibly?? Have you ever used steroid creams on your face? If you have used them a lot then it could be due to that...but conversely if you have never used them then it may help. You should be able to buy a .1% steroid cream OTC but if it makes it worse then stop straightaway. Otherwise it may need a course of antibiotics from your doctor. Dont wash your face with anything but a very mild skin wash. No make up. A light smear of Vaseline at night may help with the dryness and soreness
Perioral dermatitis can be caused by lots of things and you may need a dermatologists opinion and a biopsy or skin scrapings done. Can you ask for the appointment to be brought forward?
Have you recently started taking an oral contraceptive pill?
No I haven’t been using any steroid creams on my face, just the likes of e45 or aloe Vera slightly but it tends to make it worse. I will try to keep everything off my face until I get to see a doctor possibly tomorrow some time! I have been taking a contraceptive pill for years now and they gave me a different pill but told me it was the same only different name, although it did start around this time.. when I looked up the ingredients it contains just two extra things in it! Thanks for the reply!
Contact dermatitis? Maybe. I used a dish soap that when my arms came in contact with it I would break out with rash and hives. After taking new pill do you wash your hands? The residue from it may be on finger tips and when you touch your face it causes it to break out. Just a thought.
