For the last couple of weeks, I have had a really bad taste in my mouth,
I know this can be due to a nulmber of things, but I just wondered if anyone
had the same, and if it was due to the Pred, been on pred now for 2 years
and reducing down, it didn't happen when reducing down, as I have been on
5 mg for the last 2 to 3 months, and still on 5.
I take pred, daily aspirin, blood pressure, and Pantoprazle, and the weekley anabolic acid one?
just thought I would ask. before I go on to Google and the scare the life out of myself;;;;

You haven't got oral candidiasis [thrush] have you?
And before you start Googling, have a look around this site!
LO. just wondering if it could be Acid reflux.
Earlier this year before prednisone I woke up to the worst taking coffee I had ever had. Then I realized the water tasted bad too, so I called out the water people. Then I realized it was ME!!! I had been trying to cut down the amount of Nexium I took for GERD, gastrointestinal reflux disease. I put the dose back up and water was fine. At about the same time a young 6 year old friend wit h severe asthma was discovered with GERD, which she had never complained about- just didn't want to eat or drink. Her teeth were actually damaged. So apparently GERD and asthma are often related. Now asthma is another autoimmune disease, so it is possible PMR is also related to GERD.
Does your tongue have a white type coating? If so it is probably thrush which I get from time to time and it is rapidly cleared up when the doctor prescribes a fluconazole 150 mg tablet. Just another tiny little side effect I guess. Try not to over think things, if possible. Good luck to you on your PMR journey.
A better idea might be to ask the GP - or even better your dentist! It can be the sign of gum problems and pred does affect the blood flow plus if you are on the "anabolic acid" (alendronic acid!) tablet you need to have very good mouth hygiene or it can lead to problems. You should have been warned about that.
