Bartholin abscess surgery recovery time?

I'm wondering what the recovery time you ladies experienced after having a word catheter put in for an abscess. When did you start walking normally? When did the swelling return to normal? When is it safe to have sex again? Any tips on a faster recovery? Or even for getting better sleep ( I've only 17 hours of sleep in the past 3 days).

I have an incredibly active job and work on tips. I only have enough cash for about 6 days of recovery and worried that it's too soon especially since my job is so strenuous.

I could only stand it for 6 days before having it removed. It was very painful and umcomfortable to me the entire time. I only felt semi comfortable when I was laying down. After removal, I felt immediate relieve and continued soon my Epsom salt baths for 4-5 days until the Incision site healed. It continued to drain for 2-3 days after it was removed. It has been about 2 weeks since I had it removed and and everything has gone back to normal. It took about 5-6 days for all of the swelling to go down. Good luck. Hope you can keep it in longer than I could.

Mine fell out after 13 days and it was painful for about a week and I had to take narcotic pain killers. My doc told me to wait for at least 3 months before having sex again to ensure proper recovery of the incision and to prevent any further infections. I think you should be able to get back to work in 6 days but you may need at least 600-800mg ibuprofen since narcotics make you drowsy. It's not easy walking around with that thing, good luck and I hope that you recover fast!!

I kept my first one in for two weeks, which is how long my doctor wanted it in.  I felt much better after it came out.  Sex was probably a few weeks after I think.  The second one I asked him to take out after only a few days and do the Marsupialization.  I just couldn't take the catheter any more.  The Marsupialization was a longer recovery but I'm hoping it's a permanent solution or at least keeps the reoccurrence further apart.  So far-so good. Good luck to you!
