been off work 3 weeks with depression. really dont wana go back.thoughts off suicide.

Been of from work for 3 weeks.because of being treat like crap at work by supervisor.off with depression which suffered with for years.and this person made me go back to being depressed.thoughts off going back make me wana end it all.looked for new job but rejected by loads.even ones am qualified for.love my wife and kids and being at home.really dont know what to do.please help.

Andrew you will be treated by your supervisor exactly how you expect to be treated, your self esteem is low and so you are treated as such. You say you have applied for loads of jobs and been rejected but that is just how things are for everyone right now, it doesn't mean you should give up.

Someone can only make you feel low if you allow them to, you always have the choice. What makes this supervisor a better person than you? NOTHING! Only what you think he has.

You do not have to stay in a job which makes you unhappy, BUT whichever job you choose you must value yourself and not allow another to bring you down. If you cannot be strong enough to own your own power in the workplace then you are not ready to go back to work, you need supportive people around you.

If your job makes you feel this way you are not doing yourself or your family any favours as it will only halt any progression or healing which must come first!

Realise you deserve better and do not allow others to dictate your state of mind. Your supervisor doesn't understand but you should recognise that and not give him power over you.

Please realise that depression or not you deserve no less respect than any other person, and that includes respect for yourself!

Thank you.great advice

Have done this myself with supervisor stuff.. the more you take time off the more the boss, if they are a &*%^ has excuse to complain. I was under great pressure from work, broke up with my fiencee - some was due to work - and then boss tried to get me fired because I was now suffering from work and breakup.

I came back and took the complaints both from my assistand 3 levels lower that me and the boss.. felt like s&$^ HOWEVER, I still have a job, the boss stopped complaining about me being on leave after a while. (she finally got transferred) wohoo!

Several people here have gone the 'take off work everytime the boss is bad' thing and they have left themselves with no place to go.. their boss got more and more evidence to make a formal issue out of it and their boss now wants to fire some of them.

One guy managed to put himself on permanent disability but he will never work again. All very negative.

I can only suggest that, with the support of yr family, you hang in there buddy at least you are going for jobs.

You will be job rejected more if you aren't in a job now.

1. HANG IN THERE.. 2. Somehow find the courage to back to work.

3. Find a way to formally write work issues down. (I send an email to myself cause thats a legal document in Australia.) The writing down relieves some tension, and also you can start to see patterns in the abuse. Which helps a lot.

Good luck and chers!

Thank you mate

Hello there Andrew, I was in the same boat as yourself many years ago in the Armed Forces, and my boss and myself were both "medics"....I used to get tarred and feathered every time I saw the bloke, couldn't seem to do anything to please him.....anyway, to cut a long story short, everytime he gave me a Bol^^&&king, I used to stand there, at attention, and Imagine him(my boss), on the toilet, with his trousers round his ankles, and it didnt seem so bad after that.........In the end, I managed to get a promotion in rank and was posted (transferred ) to another camp, to run my own section......Still think of it, and chuckle, all the best, Grorge....

Thank you il do that.Cheers for your time.

Heh

Reminds me of the story that an ex Private told who didn't wear his uniform properly after coming out of the mess hall..

Private wheres your f'ing hat?

Sir its in my pocket.

Private why isn't your f'ing cap on your f'ing head???

Sir, cause I can't fit my f'ing head in my f'ing pocket SIR!

The other is an army truck driver that stuffed up something, and was punished by having to call in each truck coming in the gate with the battalion trumpet.

He recons he was there for 4 hours and he was enthusiastic - he had complaints of deafness from the drivers

I'm sure theres plenty of them going 'round..
