I had a partial hip replacement in Spain due to a fall in September and just had my second checkup at the hospital. X-rays all ok but the Doc told me I could never sit on a low seat again, never cross my legs and still have to use the special loo seat extension forever. Is this the same in the UK or is it a Spanish thing?? I cannot face sitting on a high dining chair for the rest of my life. The only good thing I was told I can now sleep on my side - wow!!
Still having pain now and again and unable to walk any distance without my walker??
Regards
Hi,
Must be a Spanish thing. Here in UK was told at 3 months to do anything I want but just be aware of the 90° thing. Most people seem to go back to pretty much normal after a year

Must be a Spanish thing. Not here in the USA. 6 weeks of restrictions and then pretty much back to normal walking, sitting and laying. Just take it easy, give it time, and talk to another specialist for a different opinion
Hi Jean I'm in the UK 12weeks restrictions for
me tlhr lost the loo seat after 12weeks are now
sitting on low sofa and normal dinning chair.
Now 5 months post op still can't do my shoe
lace up on op leg or get to toe nails but getting
there, still pain from new hip after resting but
does go once you get moving, so must be
Spainish thing hugs and best wishesx🎊 🎄
Lol this is funny . I am keeping my toilet seat as they said I could so still using it but I can assure you I have sat on about 15 different normal sized toilet seats in shops and homes out and about in UK and still in one piece! You just have to lower urself a bit more and it can hurt a bit but that is it !
Certainly not for me - I had mine done a year ago, with revision in January. I am allowed on low seats, and i can cross my legs, and use any height loo seat. In fact I have just got up off the floor after fixing the Christmas Tree lights. I have also been up on my workshop roof to repair it a few months ago!
We all get such different advice.

I was told at my 6 week check to ditch the high chair, toilet seat etc.
I'm now 8 weeks post op and can do most things again except touch my toes !
Must be Spanish thing. Here in Australia 12 weeks restrictions. Just be aware of 90 degree.

hi jean,
warm welcome to this forum of hippies ...
What do you mean by "partial" hip replacement ? what was replaced ?
maybe that is why you were told to never sit on a low seat or cross your legs ...
and how low is low?
When was your surgery? were you given any exercises -
Great that your xray shows that everything is okay - maybe your doctor can explain why he gave you these restrictions to follow ...
let us know how you are getting on, okay ?
big warm hug
