I am about to start taking MMF (to treat Nephrotic Syndrome) and was wondering what sort of experiences other people have had with the drug?
It is being prescribed as a steriod sparing agent, and as an alternative to Tacrolimus or Ciclosporin.
Thank you in advance,
Lewis
i'm now documenting my experience of MMF on the Nephrotic Syndrome forum.

I am starting to take Mycophenolate Mofetil after being taken off Azathioprine which was causing a massive rash on my back. How did you get on with taking it? My dosage is 2 @ 100mg per day,
Cheers

I've just started taking MMF for nephrotic syndrome. How was your experiences ? So far it drains me and makes me super tired !
I've been on MMF for about 3 years now and the results have been excellent. I take 1 gram, twice a day. I also take 5mg of prednisolone once a day.
To begin with (fortnight or so) I made more regular trips to the toilet than usual however, my stomach eventually settled down.
I can honestly say that I've not had any side effects - I've still got lots of hair, my skin and bones are fine, and my general health (immunity to coughs, colds, flu) is unaffected. I take a multivitamin every day as well as cod liver oil, just by choice.
My nephrotic syndrome relapsed once about a year after commencing MMF. Dose remained unchanged and I needed a course of prednisolone to sort it.
I was relapsing several times a year before commencing MMF, and to have only relapsed once in 3 years is amazing for me. I hope MMF works for you as well. Give it time, and be rigid - stick to taking the pills at the same times every day. I've also stuck to taking the ones made by Roche, rather than being switched to a different brand.
Best wishes,
Lewis
