Being stupid

Hi hippies.   I am five weeks post op today,  have been doing ok and pleased with my progress but this morning totally forgot what I was doing and got out of the car as you would normally instead of legs together.   How stupid is that!  Still have been for a walk in a little bit of pain though.  Will have to take it easy tomorrow.  Has anyone else made this big mistake?

Yes I have done that , that's what made me realise although I am very pleased with my progress at almost 11 weeks , I can't do everything . Find getting in and out of car most difficult now apart from sleeping

mary

Yes, I've done that and even at 6months post-op I still only get into the car both legs together. Forgot again the other day and it didn't hurt or anything but felt a bit odd so decided I'm just going to make the post-op way my normal way forever now. Kinda more 'lady-like' too!

I'm sure you will be ok but do be careful

Oh yes 19 days post op and doorbell rang so all in a rush and twisted awkwardly. Had to lay down for a while. But this afternoon I walked 3 miles with both crutches. Took arrest midway for a pedicure and foot massage- heaven

Now sitting in my porch sunning self. You take care. My surgeon told me week 5 was the dangerous time for dislocation as we all get cocky and forget the rules. I have to obey rules for 8 weeks.

That is the problem with less pain, we forget we are still recovering

Hi ,I am also 5weeks post op! Yesterday I over did things by ironing and also cleaning the oven! Have been for a walk with our dog walker just down driveway and back! Have to rest up a lot more! Hope your OK? Regards Amanda

Why not put a note on door asking people to wait as it takes you a ŵhile ?

Mary I have a note on door which read Please be patient- guess what forgot it was there. Still no harm done, hip still in place. Gives one a wake up call

Not made the mistake with getting in and out of the car, but did forget and bent down one day, then suddenly felt the "pull" round the scar, so straightened up quickly.  No harm done thank goodness.  We all forget things occasionally.

Whoops sounds like I've getting in and out of the car wrong from the start.

Hi All Post THR Patients:

I am about 4 weeks post op now.   I am still walking with a walker most of the time. I'm feeling almost normal and many times I find myself walking away from my chair without my walker.  Or Bending over to pick things up.!  I'm feeling more normal these days not much pain so I don't have pain as a reminder any longer to becareful.  But, this a.m. I felt my lower wound site was very hot . Then when I looked at the site it was red and angry looking so I called my G.P.and made an appt. for him to have a look see.  Well, now I am on a course of anitbiotics.

So I still am not walking on my own yet.  I still feel as if my operated leg is longer then my good leg?? Has anybody else had that feeling??

I'm worried I'll have to wair a lift in my good side shoe

Feeling kind of discouraged,
