I've decided to go ahead with plans and go on a week long trip across the country with my friends despite my severe anxiety. It's been better the past few days so hopefully I won't have much of a problem, but I'm nervous about my anxiety getting worse again. During attacks, my heart starts to race, I feel dizzy, and I can't breathe and I convince myself that I'm dying. (My main problem is health anxiety but lately attacks can hit can hit at any time.) Is there anything that helps u guys when u start to panic? Thank u guys so much!!!
Can you get a perscription for xanax? Going on a trio with friends can be rough at moments. A lot of activeity and little to no ritual. You are noting your anxiety is unmanaged. Let your friends know because i have seen this Play out a few times on this forum and the friends werent caring, they are there to have fun. And thats what they will do with or without you. So you need something to be able to use in a pinch. I dont think you should go of this is unmanaged. I see another convo took place but a lot of change, new places, activities, drinking its all a lot. Be sure you can handle this,
Can't really give any advice but I would like some tips to! I have bad health anxiety also and we are going on a family vaca to Colorado next month and I'm already nervous wreck thinking about it! I've had anxiety for 3 years some days it's debilitating and keeps me from doing normal things! I have been prescribed celexa and I'm going to start it soon I'm scared of medication though because of side effects! Breathing exercisies always help me out of a panic attack and make sure your friends know the truth and how serious anxiety can be! Maybe talk to a therapist ask there advice

Here is a site I just found today. I followed the breathing exercise tips and it actually helped in minimizing my panic attack and probably prevented more from happening as I usually have multiple attacks at work. I liked the detailed instructions on how you should actually breathe. Maybe you can ask your physician for a prescription of clonazepam. Its like Xanax in that it helps with anxiety. Its not as fast acting but does last longer. I take .25mg twice a day. If you only need it for a week there shouldn't be any risk of it becoming habit forming but it cannot be combined with Xanax. I don't think you can consume any alcohol with either but typically alcohol will induce or worsen anxiety - in some cases anyway. I take the wafer. It seems to absorb in the system faster than the pill - about a half an hour I feel it but if taken regularly it should prevent attacks. Maybe take some activity books - crossword puzzles, word search, a book...something you can focus on other than the anxiety. Oh, there is also the option for supplements. I hear magnesium and vitamin D, and chamomile can also help. But you'll want to get lab work done first because I think too much magnesium could cause problems with your liver or kidney. I'm glad you're taking this trip! It shows you're not letting the anxieties hold you back!
I think having some kind of drug, such as xanax, prescribed could be beneficial, just to give you a sense of security to where you know that if you do have a panic attack, or start to feel off, that you have a way to deal with and remedy it. That said, it sounds like you're experiencing anticipatory anxiety, and I've found that if I am anxious about having a panic attack, I'll eventually end up having one. It's best to try not to worry about having a panic attack, because doing so increases your probability of having one. I know it's hard not to worry about it, I often have that fear in my mind when on holiday, or in social situations even.
Yeah I usually think about it a lot so I'll try not to! Thank u!
The thing is I don't have enough time now to make an app for a prescription. I leave in two days. I really really want to go I'm just really upset about my anxiety stuff. Its gotten better very recently but... any other advice? Lol (:
It's always nice to know there are others experiencing the same things! Thank u I'll try some breathing exercises
These quotes are from your post and it would be better if you pay attention on your thoughts: "It's been better the past few days so hopefully I won't have much of a problem" - it's better to dwell on this type of thought than on this one "but I'm nervous about my anxiety getting worse again." Having negative thought it's like having an assurance that you are going to have one.
Just re-examen your thoughts and come up with something that will put your panic attack to rest.
While you are out for trip just enjoy the trip and defuse the worrying thought.
Good luck and enjoy your trip.
There is time. Go to an urgi center and tell then youre going in a trip with your friemds with panic attacks and ask for some medicine you can use if you start panicking. Have a back up. It wont play out well with nothing. You think a few deep breathes will clear your mind in a strange place with a bunch of friends? Really? Who in this world told you this is a good idea with unmanaged anxiety? You recieved bad advice or you didnt explain it right.
if it was an over night id say go for it. But a week..too long. Youre only hope is if one of your friends has an anxiety disorder or you get some back up keds from the urgi center. This isnt a joke. It wont be funny or maybe you are a troll playing with everyone taking you seriously. Noone goes on a week long adventure trip with friends with unmanaged panic attacks.
