Best way to withdraw from 10mg citalopram?

im on 10mg of citalopram and wanting some advice on best way to taper off? i dont mind doing it slow to minimise withdrawal symptoms but basically just need a good regime or potentially someone that had a good method while coming down and managed to withdraw properly. thanks

Hi

I withdrew from Citalopram 20mg a few years ago and avoided withdrawal symptoms.

First I bought a pill cutter / crusher then cut my pills into 4 making each one 5mg. You’d just need to cut yours into 2 to make 5mg - or even cut them into 4 to reduce the dose further to 2.5mg. Depends if you notice a 5mg drop.

So I then went from 20mg / 15mg / 10mg / 5mg /2.5mg / 1.25mg / 0.

I had to crush the last 2 doses as they were too small to cut, and then i just divided the powder as best I could. I only cut up 1 pill each time so I didn’t have hundreds of bits everywhere.

I stayed on each reduction about 1-2 months before moving to the next dose.

You could even do yours like this:

10mg / 7.5mg / 5mg / 3.75mg / 2.5mg / 1.875mg / 1.25mg / 0

Basically just cut into 4 etc.
