Bi-polar and Personal Independence payment

have severe Bipolor am under a psychiotris and now may be Psycotic, I answered all the questions on the assessment form which I though were high scores, I can't leave the house can't make a meal incase of leaving kitchen appliances on never go out and don't open the door or post . Does anyone know what the chances are of getting this benefit

i was recently invited for a medical re PIP and when I arrived and the doctor asked for a list of my ,medications much to my surprise she left to call my psychiatrist who advised I was diagnosed as being bipolar but not stabalised with medications as yet.  The doctor medicaling me apologised for me having to come in and I have been awarded my PIP till 2017.  I would imagine you will be awarded the benefit.  Remember to base all questions on your worse day.

PIP is a payment that enables you to purchase goods n services to assist in enabling to to become indepandant, to provide you with the opportunity od living your life with support,  not to make you be able to lie 'under your house'  Being bipolar is different to each individual and the effects of the diorder can vary form day to day. No one can say that they completely understand the disorder. For some this can be as drastic as being unable to leave there home, they can have ore lows and the occassional high.  It is unfair to compare and disorders or disabitlies.  As they say you cant comment till you have walked a hundred miles in  my shoes.

Good luck with your PIP, I hope it assists you in being independant again.

Thank you for your help in the PIP information, I have been waiting nearly 3 weeks for the outcome but has now gone to the decision makers i've been told so hopefully it won't take to much longer. May I ask how long it took for your to come through and was it quite quick, many thanks It would mean that I could possibly get out with my husband for a drive if I am up to it cause at present we can't afford to do anything due to me not working anymore.

It should be quite quick, the usually advise you its around 6 weeks for a decision being made.  If they for what ever reason thats its not allowed go to your social work department and speak with an income maximiser, they assist with appeals.

Good Luck
