Bilateral hip replacement

Hi, I am now ten days post op and all going well. Is their anyone else out there that has gone down this route? I was a little unsure at first whether this was the right approach to have both hips done at the same time, but at the moment I think I made the right decision. One op, one period of recovery.

Charles

Well done, Charles. I really admire you for having both done at once. I am 8 weeks post op from having my right hip done and am making an excellent recovery. However, I would not have been brave enough to have both done at once although I do see your point about one op and one recovery period. My left hip is only slightly worn so I'm hoping it will settle down now that the right one is good and I'm not walking like a duck anymore! Good luck with you continued recovery.

Congrats Charles,

I needed both done and requested for both to be done but my Dr said there was too much of a chance for infection so I had to do one at a time. Waiting for the 2nd to be done. Keep us posted on your progress.

Charles, I really do not know how you and others like you mange having both done at the same time. It was bad enough protecting one hip and still is. Hope your recovery continues going well.

Hi Charles so good to hear you are recovering well from your bilateral surgery. I had bilateral surgery one year and ten months ago and it was the best thing I ever did. I am now doing yoga, walking and keep fit classes and feel wonderful. For me like you having both hips done at the same time was a no brainer although the first couple of weeks were tough but the end result is amazing. Good luck with your recovery and keep doing all your exercises and you will be kicking your height in no time. Best Regards Ann

Awesome Charles ! I had a bilater hip replacement 4 years ago at the ripe old age of 34. It was by far the best decision ever. Had the procedure done in January and was playing softball 3 nights a week in May. Everything was so much quicker and easier by getting it done all in one! Kudos !
