Just wondering about when it's possible to get up and down stairs after having both hips replaced at the same time? I'm going in for surgery next month and have a home with piles of stairs.
Kim you are braver than I to have both at the same time .
if you have lots of stairs at home. Can you set up a room down stairs ground floor near rest room with a bed and all the necessities and favorite things. Mabe Rent a hospital bed ask for prescription from dr ins will pay for it. When your feel better and comfortable to maneuver up and down stairs, then you can move back to your room.

I don't know ... what I do know is that physical therapy will teach and practice stairs with you in hospital ... usually you get discharged when you master the stairs --
do you have help at home ? I like Hope4cure's solution, if that is possible ..
What were you told by surgeon and physical therapist at pre-op appointment ?

Hi Kim. I had bi-lateral hip replacements on Nov 9. Am in USA and currently staying in a rehab facility. Today was the first time I did stairs in PT. Was slow but fine. Would not, however attempt by myself.
Love this blog because reading how others are progressing, how they have and are handling rebuilding their confidence in themselves and their healing is better than TV.
