I am 50 and went into menopause at age 42. I recently started on just 25 mg of compounded Progesterone in troque form 6 days ago and have gained 8 pounds!! I blew up like a balloon and now waddle like I am 9 months pregnant. The heaviness and weight is almost cartoonish. Picture the Apple Fruit of the Loom character!!! I am 5’2 and petite so this is extremely uncomfortable. It doesn’t seem to be water as my fingers, ankles and legs are still skinny. Nipples are very sensitive as well and I can no longer fit into my bra of 10 years… Can anyone share a story or tell me what I could do?? Will this go away or do I stop?? I read all over the Internet that I am not taking ENOUGH progesterone, but I just don’t want to EXPLODE if I take more! I am wondering if the natural pellet therapy and troque therapy is worth it. I am HUGE!!
Hi Tanya, I had the same experience. They put me on 50mg during peri and I swear I went up 2 pant sizes in 2 weeks all in my belly and made my fibroid grow. Those people who say to take more are not in many cases correct. My OBGYN said many woman will gain weight with progesterone and sadly if you’re low just taking more doesn’t automatically put you back in balance. There are many women out there who have gained weight, increased their dose and just gained more weight. So I wouldn’t just take more. I would go back to your doc or find another doc that’s more knowledgable tho I know that’s hard. Seems like most docs don’t know jack about lady hormones or how to put them back in balance. I stopped the progesterone and the weight gain stopped but almost a year later I’m STILL trying to get the weight off. Diet, exercise etc.
Hi Tanya, I take estrogen troche and progestrone capsule, this has happened to me if you haven’t had It in awhile I think your body kinda goes through an adjustment phase so maybe give it a week or 2 if you can handle it but my trouches are cut in squares and each little square has 4 I started taking a whole square and didn’t even know and I was off the richter scale with symptoms and went back to doc and told him then he said they were cut like that to start with on square and work your way up to were you feel comfortable!!! well thanks for telling me 50 dollars later right!!! anyway long story short if they melt under your tongue as mine do I bite them in half and that is were I am, I like because I have control my girlfriend is on the pelet, once they put it in its in and you have to wait to change it, my thought but have heard good stuff Its all individual I like the troche so far and have also stopped taking it for periods of time and started again… well good luck hun and hugs to all!!
