No its not, but you need to see a gynaecologist who can advise you . You may need to have some cauterisation of your cervix to remove these cells. Dont ignore it because its not cancer, Are you in UK?
Hi Marina,
Thanks .I am in Bangladesh .I am very much afraid of my condition now. Doctors here never advises properly.I am confused now should I go for radical hysterectomy? Thanks again
Hi Khaleda
I agree with Marina Dee that you need further advice from a gynaecologist. I suggest writing down the questions you want to ask before your appointment. If you are not happy with the doctor then I think you need to get a second opinion. On the basis of the information you have given you don't need a radical hysterectomy. That is a big operation performed on women with actual cancers and will usually includes removal of the pelvic lymph nodes. However, very early cervical cancers e.g. stage 1A1 can be treated with a simple hysterectomy although alternatives are possible depending on the age of the woman.
Khaleda...how old are you?
I am 41 years old. Today went to the gynac and she told me to do HPV test and another colposcopy.. Really don’t know what to do??
If I were you I would be happy to follow your gynae's advice. Also, if you are a smoker it would be good to quit. Squamous metaplasia can naturally revert to normal but is less likely if you smoke.
I agree with Jane...the advice from your gynae is very good. He/she is obviously try to find out exactly what is wrong so that they can give you the best treatment.
Thanks all.Went to my gynac with the report. She said I am fine I need only sleep.Really??? I insisted her for another investigation and she said what I need is sleep.I think I have to change the gynac now.
Sleep?? I have never ever heard a gynaecologist say that to anyone. Crazy. Definitely change your gynae.
HPV test and colposcopy sounded sensible.
