I was wondering if anyone could share whether they have used birth control and how it affected their fibro. The week prior to menses is one of my most painful and seems to exabarate body pain and then I go straight into extremely painful periods that match the pain I felt in labour by which time I'm exhausted from constant agony, so I was wondering if birth control pills would help but am worried about the effects. I would need to go on progesterone only pill due to age and family heart issues and progesterone is a natural muscle relaxant so I had some hopes it may then help body pain all the time but I've also read some websites that claim they are the root of fibro, arthritis and ms etc etc etc.
Anyone taken them with good or bad effects on fibro?
Hi Charlotte, I am on a progesterone only pill as I have endometriosis and I have noticed a massive reduction in my fibro symptoms since being on it ! Don't know whether some of my symptoms were actually the endometriosis, it's just a coincidence or what but Ive been taking it for 4 months now and feel a lot better for it x
Wow thank you so much for that, the best way I can explain the burning nasty pain over my body is that it is similar to how your breasts feel the week prior to a period, deep burning and stingy/tingly and hurt with every movement!

I am taking cerazette. I used to have similar pains to you, especially in my breast and armpit and had shooting pains in ribs and all sorts, hardly get anything now and I don't bleed at all which is great because my periods were long and very painful. I still get some fibro symptoms and I still have bad days but on the whole the pill has definitely had a positive effect. Good luck with it hope it helps you too xx
