Bisoprolol side effect

Hi can anyone one tell me did they suffer with lightheaded and breathless also feeling drained no energy .... did the effects  get worst 4/5  after taking it .

Really of with everything at the moment

Any feed back would be grateful

Thanks Gary

As soon as I started taking Bisoprolol, I described feeling like a drunk Zombie, and that I could no longer feel my lungs work its as if they no longer worked as well automatically, and I had to remember to breathe. So I cut my 1.25 tablets in half, but I was still found barely conscious after taking them for nearly three months. They took me off them a year ago now.

And here we are a year later, I have been turned into an old man and am being medically retired, of course the NHS are very reluctant to even try and find what these drugs have done to me, they claim its just a co-incidence that I got so sick as soon as I took Bisoprolol, that its something else, so why dont they search for this something else?

I suspect they know exactly what Bisoprolol does to a small percentage of people, know nothing can be done about it, and maybe are worried we will sue them. I would say I now feel sickeningly ill.

Beta Blockers block receptors in your Autonomic Nervous System. The ANS regulates all the automatic functions in your body and maintains a balance between fight/flight, and rest/digest/ One of the things the ANS does is detect the amount of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the blood, if say when you are asleep, and your oxygen is too low, the ANS via your brain, gets you to breathe harder without you even being aware.

Now my ANS has been permanently disrupted, this system is no longer as it should be, if you click on the box below, you will see a blood oxygen graph I took a few nights ago, see the red line at 88%?, this is a 15 minute medical emergency I read, yet I spend half the night with too low blood oxygen. I wonder if this is why I am feeling more then lightheaded, because my brain is being starved of oxygen? I feel permanently drunk and dizzy.

Yup, been there, done that

I went on for about 3 months. Immediately I was a zombie, could not get off the couch.  My heart rate and blood pressure were so low. After 2 months I dropped to 1.25 mg for a month. No difference.

Then at the 3 month mark, I stopped  them to have an  ablation. EP specialist told me to stop. I asked if that was okay to just stop. He said...no problem

Well it was a huge problem.  Went  through withdrawals.......tons of stuff.

I would rather have tachy than be on that crap

Also, my feet and hands were freezing

I have been on them (2.5mg) for 4 and a bit years and still getting side effects tired/no energy etc, some days are better than others though and it is still better than a heart-rate of 190 bpm.

Yes all those symptoms, felt awful, I,m off it now but getting horrible ectopics heart pauses.

Dear Gary, you are not alone! Can back you on these side effects 100%. And yes felt worse 4-6 months in. My main thing is insomnia and the horrible adreanaline rush at night.

12 months on the damned stuff and still no joy. cardiologist reluctant to change me because he says Bisoprolol is the best.

Kind regards, Mardi

Peter, that’s so much for sharing all the insight on this a previous posts I have been following with interest and can relate to everything you say. The only difference is my heart rate sits slightly higher.

Feeling like and old person, oxygen and related headaches, effects to the nervous system all make sense to me.

Hi thanks for that detailed reply .. can I ask after taking it did or had been part of the day you felt worst it like I take it 6.30 in the morning and by midday I'm bad

Thanks

Can't believe a tablet this tiny can cause so much bad feeling  I'm on 5mg

Thanks

Feet feel warm with me

Think having no energy makes you more depressed

Not nice

Thanks

Did u have breathing problems like short of breath

Yes definitely!  I forgot about that one it felt like I had a lot of cotton wool in my lungs.

Doc ... best for what your heart yes I agree but like u said nasty stuff ....

don't think I'm going to stay on it my breathing and no energy hate feeling like it

Can't understand why it would cause breathin issues

Thanks

Because of the withdrawals I went through (but did not know that was what it was at the time), I was put on 2 anxiety medications. Trazadone and Clonezepam)   The withdrawals from biso made my anxiety go through the roof.

Because I wanted a second ablation, my EP specialist said I had to be off these meds. So I started a slow 10 month weaning on these.  I have been off one of the meds 5 months and the other just about 4 months. This has been the hardest thing I have ever done.  Truly.   I am still going through withdrawals.   And all of this because of the biso...........

Hi thanks for reply ..... can not believe when your on it it's bad when you of it your bad

I does feel like you are stuck in one gear

Thanksb

Sorry

It does feel like ...

Yup, just nasty

That was an all night recording. What usually happens with me is I wake up in the morning and dont feel too bad. Just a bit of a fuzzy head. As the day progresses, I feel steadily worst and worst, more drunk and dizzy, horrible short bouts of heartburn or maybe its Prinzmetal angina for all I know. The palpitations get worst during the day, once I have eaten, then for a few hours I feel desperately ill, sickeningly so. If I spend the whole day in bed, I feel fine.
