Hi all to cut a long story short a few months ago I was off work with anxiety for 3 months it was a really tough time and it came out of nowhere I have been back at work for 2 months now and had been feeling much better
At the minute I keep getting a feeling that I'm drained both physically and mentally with a strange feeling in my head it makes it so hard to be motivated and I just want to sleep 😴 some days I'm fine but others it lasts all day any tips or advice welcome please many thanks
Hi Jode, have you been diagnosed with depression? That could explain the lack of motivation and the desire to sleep all day. The strange feeling in your head sounds similar to something that I experience at random times. To me it feels like I'm not really a part of my surroundings. As if I'm watching television or something. It's caused by the anxiety.
Hi Jode. Sorry I have no advice to give you other than to say that you are definitely not on your own with this feeling. Even if I have a good nights sleep I can honestly say that on some days I could cheerfully sleep all day. I am not on medication so that is not the reason, but from the research I have done about anxiety I have discovered that the amount of adrenaline we have in our bodies for a lot of the time, has an exhausting physical effect on us. So don't worry about it, it is a normal reaction to anxiety. Its a nightmare in more ways than one !!! Take care. Lily x
Hi Jode
I just want to let you know that my funny head feelings begin in my 20s. It's due to anxiety and stress. It's partly due to the adrenaline our brain sends out when we are anxious. It is harmless. I have had it on and off over many years and I'm now in my 50s and it never had any negative affects on me other than feeling weird. I don't get it hardly at all now because I've learned how to manage the anxiety.
I did go to counseling to get help dealing with my stress and anxiety. That may be something that could benefit you. Because sometimes this is difficult to overcome alone when you have no one to talk to. They see this on a daily basis and know how to help.
All anxiety starts in the brain so the key is to calm down your mind and then the body will calm down.
I also listen to meditations on YouTube for anxiety and stress. Many of these teach you how to separate negative thinking and anxiety from yourself. They have helped me tremendously! You can find them for anxiety, depression, sleeping well, just about anything. I do this a couple times a day. And use earbuds for a better effect.
do anything you can to calm down your mind, do things you enjoy, take a walk in nature, don't forget to smile and laugh and try not to take life too seriously because nothing is worth losing your health over.
One thing is don't sit around and sit around and think about any symptoms you may be having because that will make you more anxious which will increase symptoms. You almost have to take an attitude like "this is no big deal. It cannot hurt me. It will subside" Because those are all true anyway.
you will be fine once you learn how to manage this a little bit. Remember, you are in control not the anxiety. ❤️🙂
Hi all thanks for your replies whilst I was off work I did councilling and have been signed off from that they diagnosed me with gad I have been back at work for 2 months now and have been managing fine but keep getting that feeling where my head is full and my eyes feel heavy and I just feel so tired all the time.
That's totally understandable! Anxiety takes a toll on us and is very exhausting.
Try to take the best care of your self as passable. Make sure you are getting enough sleep, eating healthyand drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
make yourself a priority right now so that you can feel better.
