Bleeding 12 weeks post op

im 12 weeks post op anterior and posterior repair (vaginally) and have had such heavy periods since. I’ve been told to wear pads for the first 6 months so I know seeing the blood is worse than if I used tampons, however when I stand up I actually feel like I’m wetting myself the blood gushes out so much. This is my second period within 3 weeks! I’m 50 this year and my periods had been getting further apart but since the surgery they’ve been dreadful. Not sure if it’s “my age” or a result of the surgery. Anyone else experience anything similar?

You've got to go see a Dr. for that as only they can work out why this is happening and start excluding the miriad of causes until finding the reason. I seem to feel it's not to do with repairs as I imagine those are pretty much healed by now. Have you had post-op final check yet?

Hi, I’m 4 weeks post op anterior and posterior repair with sacrospinous fixation and tvt sling. Like you my periods were getting further apart (I was 50 last year) I hadn’t had a period since August and then started one 3 days before my op on 13th Dec and it was really painful and very heavy, a lot heavier than normal. That is normal for someone starting the menopause apparently.

then I had one last week and my god did I know about it!  The pain was extreme and it was so heavy I too could feel it gushing out. I had read a few comments on here where people said there periods were heavier after there op so guessed it was a mixture of the op plus menopause.  Hopefully they will subside along with the pain that comes with it!

As Robyn says you should see your doctor anyway to put your mind at ease. Good luck x

I am scheduled for my postop today January 9Th-  I am no longer taking any pain meds - The only thing I continue to take is Docusate sodium  which is a stool softener along with my BP medicine - The itching has almost stopped completely - I have found myself in a new relationship with petroleum jelly  for my dry skin .  I will be four weeks postop on Friday !  I look forward to feeling better and hopefully smelling better soon !
