Bleeding after surgery

The blood will be from your sutures or the suture line that won't have anywhere healed yet. You still need to rest and only be concerned if it is very heavy or smells offensive.

Welcome back matron. X

Laura thank you I just feel so alone sometimes and it's like. It's never ending x

phyl every week another step, but. Suppose I need to be patient xx

welcome back god I have missed you xx

surgen said my healing is going well a week last Tuesday, but been talking to the lady's still have the stinging and the numbness and also feel like some days it's hanging out

How many weeks are you now Gillian, I've lost track xx

10 , A&P

Matron I had my post op at 9 wks and was told in healing well but the vault area is still a bit raw. I am now 11wks. Do you think it will have healed enough to go swimming as I was concerned about infection if still raw.

I can remember Gillian feeling that something was "hanging out" before 13 weeks when I eventually returned to work and the numbness you describe could last for some time particularly if you have been sitting. I still very occasionally get that feeling and it's been 6 years especially when I've been sat (on a plane for instance) for a few hours or more. It's really good news your surgeon is pleased with your progress so try not to worry......he's the expert and knows your body well and how the operation was performed xx

I would think at 11 weeks you should be ok swimming. I've heard consultants advising ladies to swim at about 8 weeks following their post op check. Water in a swimming pool is reasonably clean so go for it. You'll feel better for it, phyl does xx

Thank you

Thanks. I feel like everything I do at mo makes me suffer pain and in sure that lots of it will be co in using the muscles again (a bit like using the gym and feeling stuff and sore next day) but always worried it's a warning but if I don't try things how will I know I'm ok to do them. I did half an hr of ironing the other day and later on was sore. Should atill be refrained by from ironing? I was told no hoovering for 6mths also. X

Welcome back Matron. You've been very much missed. X

Gillian, once you get out and about more and get back to more normal activities you feel less isolated. It is such an isolating recovery. I felt isolated until I started swimming and then returned to work.

Thank god for the forum, kept me sane!

X

Gillian, phyl is so right when she says it's an isolating recovery. You'll remember I've mentioned many times just how long this recovery takes although I know it probably doesn't help at the moment. However I've spoken to a Urogynaecologist friend/colleague of mine today and told him just how you and many other ladies feel and he said until I joined this forum he just didn't realise how ladies felt so as he's on many groups and forums as part of the Royal College of Urogynaecologists  he said he's going to to push for all doctors to be very clear just what the effects are. In fact he's putting it on the next meetings  agenda. I've learnt so much chatting to you all via this forum so I'm also pushing very hard for more clear information to be given prior to and after the surgery. Remember Gillian we're all here for you and you can message me anytime xx

Hi matron, I took a step back and thought what is the discomfort, I think I have a dryness, the uretha seems swollen some days and also my insides on the back and front wall feels swollen, I have the feeling of a stuck tampon, I think Topsi felt this at 10  week to.

i went to the caravan which is 1 hour 45 mins and sat up and in the car all the way back and by the time I got home I felt like my insides were swollen, going in the bath now to ease it off but I need to start getting back to normal

i am very frustrated with the recovery.

I can tell just how frustrated you are Gillian. I know this is a real pain for you but you are just going to have to rest more I think. No every woman follows the text book recovery unfortunately so keep in touch, but rest xx

Thank you, I'm also getting that pain in the back of my right calf. Thanks for the input on that too, was not sure what that was from.

Your very welcome Anna,

X☺
