I am 5 weeks post-op for cyctsocele and rectocele. This morning I noticed red blood on my pad. I have Had a little spotting off and on but this seems like a lot more blood. There were some remnants of sutures on my pad, too, so I was hoping the blood is just from stitches coming out, but I took out a mirror and see a bit of a bulge coming down from what I think is the posterior repair. It’s so hard to tell because there are a bunch of lumps and bumps down there! I also have a dull paid in my vagina. Any chance this is normal and not a failed procedure?? It’s the weekend so I can’t call my doctor!
There will forever be lumps and bumps as that's just how they've stitched up the surgical cuts. Plus you will still have swelling. Don't go much by what you think you can see. It's early days. Was bleeding just a little more than spotting? And has the spotting and this latest episode been bright red fresh blood?
Robyn,
Thank you for responding! It was spottong—some red blood and then pinkish and then brownish. I’m not bleeding anymore(meaning, it lasted through the morning). But I’m still having muscle spasms and some pain now. How far long post-op are you? Can you see the lumps and bumps with a mirror or just feel them? I can see them either a mirror.
I was repaired year before last. I can see the lumps and bumps. I haven't tried feeling them. You can get pain when sutures are tightening right up before falling apart and bits coming out. As long as you've got no weird discharge and unpleasant smell. I think the bleeding you had wasn't cause for alarm. They say if it soaks a pad then you need to be seen. When's your post-op check? Have you read the South Tees info on here under useful resources?
I have my first post-op physical therapy appointment tomorrow (Monday) but I won’t see the doctor then. Next time I see the doctor is April 23!! I am a little discouraged that the lumps and bumps will always be there. I had dreams of one day looking down there and seeing an actual normal hole for the entrance of my vagina. How sad that this would give me such joy. Lol
I have been on this site for awhile and I read that your symptoms are normal at this time of 5 weeks. I have to have the exact procedures. Did a Urogynecologist do your procedure??
You are nowhere near having all the swelling gone yet. So fingers crossed. It takes more than 3mths to be kind of close to end result. But lots of us have found it's a whole YEAR before it's as normal as it's going to be. Hope I haven't burst your bubble of hope.
Thank you for your comforting words, Robyn. Although I tried to prepare mentally by reason a lot of these forums I still thought I’d be farther along at 6 weeks. And I live in fear of having a failed procedure!! I have 2 small children so it’s hard to really take it easy. I did see the physical therapist today so at least I feel like I’m taking affirmative steps to ensure a good result from surgery by doing the kegels. Thank you again! This site is so helpful to keeping me sane!
Hi Donna! Yes, I hope this is all within the range of normal. I had a cystocele, rectocele, enterocele, and perineum repair. No mesh in any of those procedures. I had mine done by my gynecologist. The same person who delivered my baby 4 months ago. I have read on this site (after I had had the surgery) that it’s better to go with a Urogynecologist, but I’m hoping I will be ok!
hi dear just want to know how you are going to cope up with kids you cannot lift them right am really scared of that reason i dont want to go for op
Sorry for the late respond, I had spotting/brown discharge for 2weeks but after that it stopped..I have a little soreness..You might to call your doctor to make sure
