Ok, sorry if this grosses some out but I had a flare up in August that lasted 3 1/2 weeks. Everytime I went to the bathroom there was varying amounts of blood in the BM. Some have looked like I was menstrating. I've been over the flare up for about a week and a half but there is still fresh blood, again varying amounts. I went to the gp but he admited he wasn't an expert and I had to wait till I see the gastro doctor which is Oct 1. The only thing he asked me was if I had hemmeroids. Question is is this normal???? I'm a bit worried this may be something more serious.

Bleeding us not normal. Is it bright red blood? I think you should get yourself to the hospital and get checked out. You may have lost a fair bit and may require bloods and or surgical intervention. I personally would not wait until October first. It's not normal an it does need intervention. Did your gp check your bloods? Haemoglobin levels?. Bleeding us not unusual in diverticular disease but it's not common to keep bleeding over longer periods. I wish you best of luck!

I responded previously and said these symptoms resembled mine in a Crohns flare but could be a number of things.
Your GP's reaction surprises me a little particularly as you are bleeding at every BM. My GP cited me as an emergency referral in similar circumstances.
By my reckoning October 1st is nearly 3 weeks away so I would press for a 2nd opinion at your GP practise or attend your A & E and have it checked out.
I don't mean to alarm you but find your GP's blasé attitude concerning.
