I have ben diagnosed as having posterior blepharitis and ocular rosacea. Part of the treatment routine is to use a hot compress on my eyelids twice a day. However..
Just recently I got this unsightly red bump on my eyelid and it feels tender. One pharmacist has said not to put heat treatment on it, as it might be infected, and you shouldn't put heat on infections. But another said to carry on using the hot compresses, it's fine, and to ask the GP for antibiotics.
I can't actually take antibiotics, so that's not an option, but I was wondering if anyone else has had cysts with blepharitis and do you use heat treatment on your eyelids still?
Hello heuchera
I too have ocular rosacea, I find that when I stop doing warm compresses and lid
massage, I can actually get these little (sometimes painful) red bumps.
Personally, I would continue with the warm compresses & monitor your progress.
Hi Yes do continue with your hot compresses and massage. I have these come up from time to time often when I have let my cleaning regime slip a bit or am overtired or stressed. If you look up chalazions (I think this is what you may have) this will give you more information. If you are worried though see your gp or optician or eye clinic if you attend one.
Thankyou. The cyst is no longer tender and the redness has gone down, though I am left with a lump on my eye that doesn't look very attractive!
Thankfully there doesn't seem to be any sign of it being infected or inflamed anymore.
That's good news!
I use Manuka honey on my inflamed lids (top & bottom ), sparingly applied, it's the only thing that calms them!
Sorry late in replying glad to that it is no longer tender. Was going to say it should gradually disappear. As it is a month since you posted it may be the case although sometimes they take a while.
