So I've had a perforated ear for multiple years now after having constant ear infections at two points in my life that meant I had to have two grommets (these were at least 7 years apart).
Recently I've been noticing I struggle to hear things like someone talking so I've turned up stuff to hear better (not thinking it was just me) and I didn't really 'notice' I was doing so until a family member told me to turn down what I was watching, and that it was loud and basically they (the family member) ended up checking my ears and apparently the one with the perforation is especially blocked and the other one is blocked but not as much.
Now apparently the doctors will no longer syringe wax out, and obviously I cannot put olive oil in my bad ear (did once though, and was in pain and it did nothing). Apparently you have to get it done at the hospital now (the same family member recently had the same thing happen to them, though in their case it was actual hearing loss not really wax).
I have been already referred to ENT back in 2012 and I have yearly appointments with them and my next one isn't until April next year.
What should I do?:
1) Do I go to the doctor just so I can get another referral so they can clean out my ears?
2) Do I call up the hospital and request a nearer appointment? (as they said to call up if I had any problems with my ears, which I have had last month, see other post)
3) Do I just try and ignore it? I do have a bit of earache but this is normal even when my ear isn't blocked
4) Do I try home remedies such as olive oil again?
