Blood pressure spikes anxiety, panick atacks, alcohol

Hello, i am 29 years old guy. I am having very bad time and came to see for some advice or maybe just to tell my story (because it is difficult to keep in myself). 3 years ago i was diagnosed with blood cancer, i am taking TKI tablets and living my live. It was not bad in the beginning but then panick attacks started, that was scary. After two years i started having them regularly and now sometimes during panic attack my blood pressure spikes to 230/120 and hr140, when i wake up my blood pressure not higher than 135/85 so doctor says it is my mental side, i was prescribed antidepresants (3 different) and they just made it worse.(just to say all ecgs, scans and all test were ok) The only thing helps me it is alcohol, i drink 3-5 pints of beer a day, but now even beer not helps me, i am very short of breath, dizzy all the time, and honestly almost cant work (thanks to quarantine i am at home for 12 weeks in uk) No my blood pressure spikes almost every day, i have cold and hot flushes, i have red rashes on my chest and neck, but doctor says it is my psychology. Honestly i dont know how to describe how bad i feel, sometimes i am strugling to go to the toilet, it looks like i will collapse and if i check blood pressure after walk it will be 190/100... I tried to stop drinking for a week but it makes only worse. Sorry i wrote a lot, i am not sure how to cope with that, how to return to work, how to stop drinking and i am only 29.

HI Ryan,
I can’t take your anxiety away but I can sympathise with your plight, my anxiety started when I was 29 and never really went away, my blood pressure did go high like yours for years and they put me on fluanaxol 0.5 mg which helped a lot with anxiety nothing else worked, have been on them ever since, but even so my blood pressure remained high, have 32mg of candesartan for blood pressure the only blood pressure tablets that did not make me ill and feel strange had to go private for both, found them both helped. i have lost 2 stone and my blood pressure has gone down to 140/80 which is really good for me, and my anxiety is at its lowest , i am going to tell you my age now 64 really a lot calmer, have tried to have a little drink but this does not help , but a few beers are not going to kill you and in the present climate, you should not worry i hope this may help you feel free to comment on this good luck ANNETTE

Hi Ryan i can feel you are suffering alot.but the fact is the more you drink the more you all water to a slippery slop and you are creating a free fall for your self.To tell you the truth you are suffering from psychological mental problem.first drinking bring about hang over and hang over is stress.please do everything to quite drinking and be sober.no matter what you do know it wont do you good.please learn to pray because prayer helps .i was also terrible during the month of February my pressure was high and dizzy and i overcome deal with it and be brave.all the best.

Are you on any medication that could be causing side effects? All of us anxiety sufferers have high spikes in blood pressure when we have panic attacks, its very common. Are you seeing a therapist and/or psychiatrist? I think you should try to be calm, you are not alone and you are not going to die. You need to put your mind on some place else. There are various meditation techniques and excercises you can do to help you relax. Your therapist should be able to tell you more about them. But before i go on, i need to know if you are medicated.

hi Ryan. Are you on any blood pressure medications? If not talk to your doctor about that. Because the blood pressure is way too high.
Drinking is going to make everything worse even if you feel better at first. It’s bad for everything including your mental health, and your physical health.
You need support right now. Is there anyway you can speak with a therapist about all of this? Even if it’s like a telehealth talk using your computer. This is very difficult to try to manage alone.
SO basically you need
1 blood pressure management and any other health concerns.
2. alcohol management
2. mental health therapist to help you deal with Panic and anxiety
3. for immediate anxiety relief, check out YouTube for many great meditations for anxiety, panic, sleep, to relax
you are a very young man and have your whole life ahead of you. Please get the help that you need with this! Take care

Jan, i forgot about the alcohol in my reply. Glad you addressed it. Thank you
