I'm looking for some information on controlling blood pressure. My mam had a ruptured brain aneurysm 2 months ago, most likely caused from high blood pressure. She has since recovered well but is concerned over her high blood pressure (180/120). She has a good diet, has a healthy lifestyle, maintains a healthy weight and has never drank or smoked. She is on blood pressure meds but they have made no difference. We are concerned over what future issues such high blood pressure could bring. Any advice on how to lower it?
Was your Mam on bp meds before the rupture? and have they repaired it for her?
she is probably very worried about what has happened to her and as a result her bp is raised, hopefully things will calm down soon she needs to see her hospital doctor to get a medication that works for her there are lots to try good luck and hope your Mam gets sorted, keep us informed
Thanks for the reply. Although her blood pressure has always been on the high side, she was not on any bp meds before the rupture, and her aneurysm was succesfully coiled post-rupture. The meds she is on now have not made the slightest of difference so hopefully she will find one that works; as she is only 47 this was a big wake up call to keep on top of these things.
I too have had a subarachnoid haemorrhage many years ago now, thought to be related to high BP. I was put on Losartan 50 mgs, and more lately 2.5 mgs Felidopine just to keep it in check. Not happy to have to take the second tablet so I'm cutting it in half - so far it seems to keep my BP under good control. I had ambitions to take up exercise but had a mishap with my eye so need to postpone anything too exertive. Glad your Mum's doing well post recovery. Really important for her not to stress!!
