Blood pressure

Why is my blood pressure 130 over 90 in morning and does blood pressure go up when ur ill**

In the grand scheme of things it’s not HIGH blood pressure but ELEVATED. Yes, when you are ill BP can be out of the norm. Did you take it yourself, or did a GP / Hospital doctor take it?

Hi i take my blood pressure everyday constantly as I worry about it

That’s a tad high but not really a problem.
I often get my highest reading of the day first thing in the morning, is that what you’re seeing?
And yes, illness itself, and/or concern about it and/or drugs and treatments taken for it, can cause BP to go up - or down.

130/90 is not that bad. I was told bp is higher in the morning.

When you are ill, your heart rate and blood pressure will go up

I never ask a lady her age but if you are ‘mature’ in years 130/90 is perfectly OK.Dont worry and dont take BP every day, you will get anxious and readings might be elevated above norm.

I’m 44

Michelle,

When you say you are taking your own BP, it’s not that easy to do. You need to be trained by a BP specialist. If you have someone at your local surgery, take your device and get the nurse to use a sphyg and you use your device after. Compare the results so that you know your device is accurate and not in need of calibration. If the nurse is sufficiently skilled he/she should be able to give you some pointers into achieving accurate results at home. If possible Bluetooth readings to a smartphone and take to the GP for discussion if concerned.

Hello, you may not even be ill anymore by now but I just seen this forum and for your age it is not all that high. Blood pressure goes up and down throughout the day. It raises when your body is about to wake up and is typically higher in the morning/lunchtime. It starts to go down as your prepare for bed in the night. I would suggest checking your blood pressure at scheduled times throughout the day each day. I check mines 3 times a day, in the morning, in the middle of the day (around 5 pm), and before I go to bed which is around 10pm. Be careful about being anxious when taking your blood pressure as anxiousness can elevate it. Take several deep breathes and calm yourself before you take it. Since you said you are dealing with an illness I’m assuming it requires medication in which certain medications can also elevate your blood pressure. Illnesses alone can also raise blood pressure too. None of this information I am telling you is meant to scare you in any way just to inform you. Be sure to eat plenty of fruits and veggies and keep a healthy diet in your day to day life and try not to think about it or overwork yourself too much, no need for that stress. xo.
