Please can one of you ladies explain my blood test.
Normally my ESR rate is 5, this last one has come back - Normality above range - result 18mm/h{1.0-14.0] oUTSIDE REFERENCE RANGE
I have been told that i will need another one in a months time,

Hey Margaret, The reason you need to repeat the sed rate (ESR) in a month is because your result of 18 is slightly elevated. You're probably taking prednisone. Your MD wants to see if you're responding to the prednisone.

I have been on pred for two years, my ESR has always been 5 or under, so its got high.

You might have had a cold or something, some sort of minor infection. Your doctor is probably just asking for a blood test to make sure it's not something which would need to be investigated. Hopefully pred dose is still managing your PMR?
