My understanding is that FLA, at least as performed by Dr. K, is done using a twilight anesthesia. Therefore the patient is not unconscious. FLA also takes a number of hours to accomplish. It doesn't seem realistic to me to expect a patient to lie motionless for many hours at a time. What happens if the patient moves while the laser is ablating prostate material? I recently had an MRI on my knee and found it quite difficult to remain completely motionless for 30 minutes.
There are a lot of guys who swear by FLA and Dr. K… I look at PAE as a great thing to try first. If it doesn’t work, FLA looks like a great option. But thats my opinion. PAE hasn’t worked for everybody.

I had FLA in Houston with Dr K. The operation was very successful. I had no problems with any of the issues outlined in this post. Furthermore, amongst my buddies who helped me through the operation none of this even came up in conversation. There is nothing here to worry about.
